View Full Version : HD is a wonderful thing.....BUT
there are some movies that should not be viewed in it. I just watched a Star Trek movie and it was hideous. The HD relieved the inch of make up required to make the gang look like they are not 100 years old.

a fam member got a super duper fancy new samsung tv, big, hooked up HD blah blah..I couldn't watch it.
The men on like, half of the commercials needed a serious nose hair trim. I couldn't stop searching up nostrils. It was distracting. No thanks.

I find BluRay too crisp for my taste, but DVDs upscaled to 1080p are very easy to watch.

With some movies that were made non hi def it is too crisp, however on things filmed in Hi Def for blu ray to be played on a hi def tv, it is a totally different story. The Planet earth series is a good example of something that is must see on Blu Ray. First CD pack I bought when I got the Blu Ray player. Just incredible.
If you ever make it past this way stop in and ask to see it.

Keep in mind, a lot of older stuff was filmed on stock that carries more visual information than even 1080p can deliver, and in Blu-Ray, you will see it better than even the folks who saw it in theatres.

yeah I have acquired a few old movies that are Blue-Ray 1080
the reprint is clear, just not 'modern' 1080 quality
