ACTRESS Kate Neilson has been badly injured after being dragged by a moving car while trying to escape a spider.
Neilson, a former model who has a role in The Killer Elite opposite Robert De Niro, was dragged 30 metres after being spooked by a Huntsman.
She was driving when her friend, a passenger, saw the spider on the driver's side window.
A panicked Neilson pulled the vehicle over, but accidentally knocked the gearstick in reverse while clambering over her friend.
She got caught under the passenger side door as the car drove backwards.
"I was dragged up the road on my back. It was agony,'' the former girlfriend of AFL bad boy, Wayne Carey, said.
Her friend chased the car for 30 metres and put on the handbrake.
The incident happened at midnight last Tuesday on Normanby Rd, Port Melbourne.
"I was always taught, growing up, that a spider is more scared than you,'' Neilson said. "But I'm a big scaredy cat. Until you're that close to a spider, you don't know what you'll do.''
She was thankful the incident happened on an empty road late at night.
Meanwhile, The Killer Elite will open in Australia late February, before she flies to LA to meet with casting agents.
She is the second celebrity to be involved in a spider-related tussle in two days.

I can understand how that might happen. I would have stopped the car , gotton out and let the spider have the car.

Yes, definitely a dumbass. I can only hope that if I was in that situation I'd be lucky enough to not put the car in drive or reverse as I ran for my life from the furry beast! :cds:

Just saw this thread now. :killingme This was my first thought, until I Googled Huntsman spiders. Those are some big damn spiders. There would definitely be a long trail of locked-brake smoking rubber on the road if this happened to me, and I don't consider myself especially spider-phobic. I think it's the element of surprise coupled with being trapped in the car.

Still a big dummy for running herself over, though.

My boy is scared of spiders. We were in VA house sitting my sister's place this past weekend and I found a dead dime sized spider on the floor. I picked it up and held it under his face and said "Looky what I found" It was weird, his face got all long and distorted looking like the bad guy in the movie SCREAM, then the wailing started

A littler later he spots one walking across the living room floor and I hand him a magazine and tell him to slay the beast. After a little coaxing he went over and repeatedly smacked it
