Fallen K-9 Officer Maggie was honored in Louisa County, VA. The Sheriff's office held an emotional memorial service Thursday afternoon. Maggie was a six-year veteran.

I had the privilege of meeting Off. Sheridan and Maggie a couple of years ago. Over 100 mourners; local citizens, handlers and law enforcement officers from all over US attended Maggie's service. It was an incredible celebration of her service as an loyal officer of the law and as a member of Off. Sheridan's family.

She and her Officer handler were dispatched to a suicidal person hiding in the woods. The person's dog was loose on the property, it attacked Maggie; biting her neck and stomach. Maggie survived the attack; but came down with a deadly infection 4 days later and passed away.
