It’s not the first time the Slovak national has run afoul of Czech law — and in spectacular style; six years ago she masqueraded as a judge

Czech police have arrested a “fake gynecologist” alleged to have operated an illegal practice in Bechyně, a town situated in the picturesque countryside of South Bohemia overlooking the river Lužnice.

In a bizarre twist to the story, the suspect, whom police in nearby Tabor have identified as a Slovak national named Alexandra Svobodová — was born a man, Czech media reported on Wednesday.

Police spokesman Jiř# Matzner was quoted by the news agency Mediafax as saying that Svobodová could face charges of fraud and damaging others’ rights for having posed as a doctor and illegally prescribed drugs containing narcotics and psychotropic substances.

“In this manner she hoaxed about 20 patients as well as the health insurance company,” Matzner said, adding that the suspect was an “enterprising woman” with a “long criminal past.” The police are now examining the evidence before making a decision on whether to file a criminal complaint, he told Mediafax. If convicted, Svobodová faces up to five years in prison.

According to the news server iDNES.cz, Svobodová, aged 30, was born Martin Sloboda. She underwent a sex change operation in Germany in 2001, and reportedly has used a number of aliases based on minor variations of her given name and surname (e.g., Slobodowa).

Order in the court
It is not the first time the Slovak national has run afoul of Czech law — and in spectacular style.

According to iDNES.cz, six years ago, using the alias Sandra Svobodová, she posed as a judge, established a bogus based court of arbitration, appointed herself its chairperson and issued rulings.
