I am looking to buy my son a desktop that he can use for gaming since his birthday is coming up soon. I have looked at the gaming ones on NEWEGG. Is there a better site to check out? Trying to get the best deal.

I use NewEgg a lot of research and will buy from there. My current desktop which is a gamer came from here. However, I will also copy the model NewEgg is selling and do a search for it online and look at Amazon for comparison prices. Both offer free shipping a lot of the times and no tax (currently, I am sure MD is looking for a way to tax that too). Be sure and check out warranties when you buy. Especially, on initially getting it to ensure you can return it if problems are found.

Games he will play is Star Wars: the old republic, World of Warcraft, and other types. I thought about building one myself but I have no experience with overclocking the CPU.
I found one on Tiger Direct that looks promising. It is under 1500.
iBUYPOWER Gamer Supreme 926SLCK Gaming PC for $1220.
I will continue to shop around.

I have an iBUYPOWER I purchased from NewEgg. Love it and it used an ASUS MB and in the Bios the overclocking is available. I play WOW and other online games and have never over-clocked it. Came with a 1G Video Card by NVidia. So I am pleased with. Payed around 850 for it....

In games like that, there is no real need to overclock. A lot of people do the overclocking thing to just say they did it and make Tool Time Tim noises. More than likely, the CPU is not going to be your bottleneck.
Get a good amount of decent memory, good 2nd-3rd gen graphics card, and an okay CPU (don't need the latest and greatest - AMD has some well priced models that are their higher end or go Intel Core i7 mid range. It will not cost you tons and will play almost anything that is out or coming out for the next few years or so on max/high.
You can then overclock later if you need to. Most good motherboards will help you overclock if you are not experienced at it. Don't forget to account for heat!

Whoa! That is new - shopping links popped up automatically in my final post. Is that something new with the new forums? I would advise not using those links and using newegg or other recommends. I did not place those links.
