Okay, I need a minute to rant.

The purpose of tags is to make finding information easier. In most places where tags are used, great care and consideration is given to choosing the most appropriate word label so people looking for the information contained therein can find it.

When folks go around randomly "tagging" threads (example: hanging a tag of "penis" on the Forum spell-checker thread), it totally defeats the purpose. Yeah, it might be a bit funny, in a juvenile sort of way, but really folks, when you do this kind of stuff you really screw it up for folks trying to research things. Keep in mind that this is all over the Internet.

Can we please rein in the silliness before this nice aspect of posting gets yanked away by admin because it's being abused?

Okay, rant over.

No personal attacks. If you're having a heated disagreement with another member, that's one thing. But there's no need to bring their wife, mother, daughter, etc. into it.

Excusez moi! I had the tags taken away? I wasn't the one who didn't know the purpose of the darn things! :drama:

Here, try this instead if anyone wants to make a word cloud with weird phrases: Wordle - Beautiful Word Clouds (http://www.wordle.net/) It lets you make words as big as you want. One warning -- they can go public, and sometimes kids use it, so don't save anything questionable (they'd delete it anyway at some point).

Perhaps tags will come back if there's an ability to set an admin filter...:coffee:

True, but I choose to believe that it was more a case of "kids just want to have fun"... (and ignorance in the true sense of the word)

Disagree! I think they did it on purpose to be idjits.

I thought the tags were annoying & distracting.

Some people can mess up everything they touch.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Twinoaks didn't get tags taken away. David and I discussed the potential for abuse long before she said anything - figured we'd see how it went.

Well, it went. :jet:

So don't blame her - you can blame me and David.
