"I don't care about the very poor." (M.Romney)

And to put in context... Regarding the "poor" quote...Romney noted that the poor have ample access to public benefits...yet the WORKING middle class does not. And the WORKING middle class is really struggling right now.

Why don't liberals care about the working middle class?

He is right. the "very poor" ..those who essentially are rewarded for not working a full time job and having multitudes of offspring are just fine. They have access to so many benefits, it isn't funny. Not to mention, right about NOW they are filing their "income taxes" in order to recieve back money they did not pay in...on top of everything else they can get through the year.

The "very poor" have it made.

Those working full time jobs with one or fewer children are those that have a rough time. I had to downgrade my health inusrance this year to help pay the bills...among other things. So the "very poor" can essentially suck it. Cuz I DGAF about them either.

If I didn't have pride, I would work part time, reduce my withholding to nothing, grab me some food stamps and WIC and enjoy my EITC . :coffee:

Since nhboy chose not only to pull a snippet of a statement out (I have to think) to mislead as to the speaker's meaning, but also to misquote the speaker, let's take note of what Mr. Romney actually said (http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/politics/2012/02/01/point-romney-poor-safety-net.cnn):

By the way, I’m in this race because I care about Americans. I’m not concerned about the very poor, we have a safety net there - if it needs repair, I’ll fix it. I’m not concerned about the very rich, they’re doing just fine. I’m concerned about the very heart of the America, the 90, 95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling. I'll continue to take that message across the nation.

What's annoying about this is, nhboy doesn't care that he purposely lied. I think he's proud of the fact that he can toss drive-by posts out there, never provide any defense for his misinformation, and move on to the next piece of misinformation.

A absolute lack of conscience.

And the VERY poor in this country have better standards of living than most middle or working class in any other developed country (including, in some cases, or own middle class)

Why should he give them ANY attention at all, other than cutting some of their benefits to motivate them to get off their ass and fend for themselves.

I think this country has a bull$hit view of poverty. Very poor is what you see in say,Appalachia. I've seen some true poverty there. Very poor people are the ones who get nothing, zero. If you have food stamps, welfare, etc. how are you poor? I have an old friend who is currently in a situation where she had to go on welfare. Her husband left her,and she has two kids. They live in a section 8 apartment and have food stamps. She cries all the time about how poor they are. But guess what? That isn't poor. That is a reduction in the comforts you were used to.

That explains why he gives millions more to charity than Obama or Biden.

Hell, I give more than Biden and I've been out of work for a year

Yep. The become entitled the housing, healthcare, food, utilities and cellphones and don't have to work at all. In fact, If they did work, they would lose entitlements so they have no incentive to ever become independent and self-sufficient.

I honestly believe that our gov't is hurting people rather than helping. In the least, folks should have to do work for the county and/or state in order to receive welfare income and healthcare coverage.

Yup. Not much "new news" in any of that. It's also why nobody ever takes anything he posts - or him - seriously. I wonder if he's proud to be universally regarded as a fool, too.:1bdz:
