We are getting in a Pom next week. I know some of you had already contacted us about small dogs. Here are her particulars per the current owner:

Current on Rabies but due again this month. Spayed.

"Female Pom, blond color. 3 years old. Very sweet and loving.
Granddaughter moved and with my work hours can't care for her as she
needs walks and playtime. Want her to go to a loving home. She is an
indoor dog and protective of her owner. She is very hyper but I
think with someone who can walk her and play with her more that
would decrease."

hey what happened to all the people that wanted to adopt a small female doggie? I'll be getting the Pom in the morning - where will she be living ? These 2 big dogs would probably like to have her as a snack if she stays here LOL

So far all I know I posted already. If I learn more I'll let you know. Sounds like the dog is a typical human guard dog LOL

PS - the lady did say she lived around cats <G> - I PM'd ya' the details. She said the cat and her Siamese would wrestle and play together.

She is so cute and beautifully fluffy! What a sweetie too, just loves people! I am sure that she will be a great dog for someone. She has her own portable pop-up doggie crate (all fabric) with a doggie bed inside, her own food dish, 2 toys, a leash, and a small bag of Pedigree dry dog food.

Got her home and took her for a quick walk on the leash and she did all her business within just a few minutes - gotta love that when it's chilly outside LOL I'll post new pictures soon.

how does the boxer get along with the pom? or do you have to have 3 special times for each of the dogs to be alone with you?

It sounds to me that they may have a boxer and possibly other dogs and wanted to know how the pom does with the boxer and or others and how the boxer does with it. possibly wanting to home the little one!!

oh well it sounded like it may have been a criticism based on how it was worded, which is why I asked. We still don't know though.

I wasn't sure so that's why I asked - I didn't want to assume anything. I let the Pom near Boxy and he just acted excited so I can't really tell by that. I don't want to take any chances so I will keep them apart since the Pom is too small to take chances with her. Hopefully either the Pom or Boxy (better yet both) will be in new homes soon <G>.

I have no clue how much it costs to get a Pom groomed. I will call Petsmart tomorrow and ask. With all that hair in the back, I'm afraid she's going to get poop stuck in it.

i wouldn't go to petco...i would try to find out from someone who knows a groomer in your area as petco is in the process of being sued due to them trying to glue a dogs ear back on after they cut a piece of it off. I know a good lady who does it down here but shes on chancelors run road and i don't know if u want to travel that far or not and she does one animal at a time not 3 or 4 or have a line where one person bathes then one person blowdries then one person cuts etc if u see what i mean.

you know what i would never let petco touch any of my animals even before the dog got part of its ear cut off. petco hid it from the owners and never told them..ummm that in my books isn't good at all. fromtexas you goahead and take your hyper boxers there and see what damage they can do to your dogs but I will never take my saint there you couldn't pay me enough to do so. I don't like how they do things. As I said before I like the lady I take bruno to. she does a very good job on her and she also did a good job on my one of the locals dogs that comes into the store as she just recently took the dog back for a bath and blowdry and a good brushing out.

Well so far the prior owner has not come through with a Rabies Certificate on her. So now members of my group are questioning just how old she is, and what shots she may or may not have had. We are discussing the possibility of getting a Titer done. We agree that she should be checked over by a vet before we release her to anyone.

Well I found out that grooming a Pom in her condition was $49 at Petsmart.

I have had to stop her from barking at the cat. She's pretty good about listening. She lived with a cat at the other home, so I'm not sure why she barks at cats and wants to chase them, other than I hear she had a Siamese cat playmate, so maybe chasing was part of the play?

at our house Tajii chases his dog, but that darn dog just ignores the chance to play. Cody thinks it's an invitation to ...(wait for it)... smell hs butt....

Good luck with Cinnamon. Someone is bound to fall in love with her.

It better not be ME ..... She seems to get along with my dog. At 8 lbs she's a tiny thing. So far no accidents inside either, so she's a very well housebroken dog.

So $49 for her groomer bill plus $5 tip for the groomer. Then I got a discount on her vet check/shots (Rabies & Distemper), and it only cost me $54.75, so her adoption fee is up to about $110. now.

May I suggest that you delete your phone number, this is a public board. I did copy your number and sent the info to Arkie via a private message. I hope it works out!

Unfortunately I have been too busy with other pressing matters, so we have not made any decisions about the Pom yet. Her adoption is on hold for the moment. I am hoping we can focus on her next week. Thanks for looking out for her to help find her a good home!

Everyone she meets says how happy and friendly she is. She doesn't get "shaky" scared over much, and she is just the cutest thing!

She is happy ALL the time. Just a joy to have around.

What's interesting is that the Pom gal (yknotpoms) just happened to be at Petsmart the day Cinnamon was being groomed and saw her! I said wow, talk about timing, so I said at 3:30 that was our Pom you saw. She said well that's a "pet" Pom (not show) and she was being very good for the groomer. Although the groomer did say doesn't care for being "brushed". That may be why she had those mats behind her ears?

One of our members has her scheduled to meet what may be her new family on Saturday. They have 1 Pom and want another. Their current Pom is very spoiled per our members co-worker.

Has she found a home yet? Does she get along well with others? Is she spayed? I'm not too familiar w/ the breed but do Poms get along well with others? My mom has a female and was wondering if her dog (Phyllis) could use a friend (Cinnamon)?

I'd be interested in seeing pictures of the 2 Poms playing. Cinnamon is 8 lbs and the other Pom has a slightly bigger frame and weighs 11 lbs.

I surprised a skinny orange kitty in my barn this morning (I THOUGHT I had smelled the faint smell of male kitty spray in there recently). I think he's deaf by how he didn't react until he SAW me as opposed to hearing my movements in the barn prior to me going to area he was in. He's domestic, starving, and looks pretty rough. I grabbed a dose of Frontline and got that on him right away. Need to be careful with him until he gets checked out and tested obviously. I gave him a can of kitty food, some dry food, along with some water. Hopefully he'll hang out there until I get home.

He's the size of a 5/6 month old kitten, but I won't know more on his age until I can get him to HS to be fixed. I'll call them today and see if I can get him in there this week.
