on where to vacation.. we've done Hershey Park, Williamsburg & Busch Gardens, Myrtle Beach, Pigeon Forge, Disney, Gettysburg/antietam, New York, Nags Head.. done the beach the last 2 years - like the beach but ready for something different.. not into a cruise right now.. something in the USA/Canada would be nice. not really feeling anything right now when I try to figure out where to go.. and I'd like to get it planned so I can be paying on it and have it hopefully have it paid off by the time its time to go..

Fly to Vegas (truly the cheapest flights for going crosscountry) - drive out to sites in the West - Red Rock, Grand Canyon, or even out to the Redwoods. I have several friends who have done this.

On the East Coast - head up to the "Little Grand Canyon" or Niagara Falls. Or take a city vacation in NYC and go see some shows.

I was thinking of Maine at one point. Bar Harbor? Portland? Go see Acadia Nat'l Park. Train/Plane? suggestions?

Thousand Islands region of NY! Canada is just across the river! Go to Iloveny.com and they will mail you a whole package on the area. If you go, do the Boldt Castle tour and the evening dinner cruise around the mansion islands.

Just you and your SO?
hop on your motorcycles and cruise two lane roads and see where they lead. Ride down the Blue Ridge Parkway. Eat when you're hungry and look for a place to sleep when you're tired.
No bikes? Take your car and just cruise. Stop and read the historical markers, go see the big ball of string.

Explore the world instead of opening a nice neat package.

If you have two weeks or more, rent an RV and just roam. Sucks if you only have a week because where ever you are after day 3, you gotta think about heading back.

I still have to see Maine, but if you haven't seen the Grand Canyon, you would be impressed to say the least. Stay at at the El Tovar or somewhere close so you can see sunsets and hike the rim at least. Not really a hike, you can drive to a nice spot and hang your legs over the the edge as you watch the colors change. It takes my breath away even though I have been there a dozen times. Camped in it a couple and hiked to the bottom. You can ride down on burros if you want.
Other cool places are Yellowstone, Yosemite(never been, but heard a lot about it) and canyonlands. Rent a jeep!
