Just moments away from the unofficial Sprint Cup debut of Danica Patrick in the first qualifier for Sunday's Great American Race.

Pre-race ceremonies under way.

Just a handful of laps in to the first duel race, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. is in the lead and a big crash.

Michael McDowell flat wrecked David Gilliland who shot up the track and collected Montoya and Menard. Montoya took a huge hit.

Brad Keselowski was also involved.

Gilliland, Menard and Montoya will need backup cars for the big dance.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. had to go to the read of the field on the restart, crew member jumped over the wall too soon.

Tony Stewart leads. Trevor Bayne and Michael McDowell in the transfer spots.

Trevor Bayne is locked in to the Daytona 500 by speed in qualifying. If he remains in the transfer spot, Michael Waltrip would go home and Kenny Wallace would make it in. McDowell and Bayne have been seemingly magnetically attached to each other this entire stint.

McDowell and Bayne still in the transfer spot. Waltrip and Robby Gordon fighting. Hamlin leads, Smoke is second and Harv is third. Danica Patrick is running sixth.

Two and three wide racing in most of the field. Another big wreck just looking for a place to happen.

Denny Hamlin first to blink. Hamlin comes to pit road, with Marcos Ambrose in tow.

Stewart leads, Harv is in second and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. runs in third.

The Daytona 500, it will be Stenhouse's second career Cup start. Last time a driver making his second Cup start did good through Speedweeks, he won the Daytona 500 and that was Trevor Bayne a year ago.

Five car breakaway at the front of the field, tailed by Aric Almirola (#43) and Jeff Burton. AJ Allmendinger (#22) leads the second pack.

Fuel situation is tight. Harvick is close, McMurray can't make it. Jr, Waltrip and Danica appear good.

Allmendinger has brought the second pack to Burton. Jr, McDowell, Bayne and Danica have lost the draft... and Michael Waltrip blinks. Waltrip to pit road and all by himself.

Michael Waltrip has wrecked, caution is out. And Waltrip, the two time Daytona 500 winner, looks like he will be going home.

Waltrip drove up on the banking too soon trying to get up to speed and just wrecked.

The agony of defeat, Waltrip will not race on Sunday.

Pit road is busy. Smoke, Harv, Hamlin and Carl stay out. The rest of the field marches in.

Green flag, 4 laps to go. Stewart leads with Harvick in tow.

Three wide and McMurray is lose. Four wide, somehow, nobody crashes.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. rockets to the lead. Stewart with a push goes right back around. White flag.

Danica Patrick, hard hit to the inside wall. Caution is out, race is over. Tony Stewart wins!

McMurray drove Almirola right down in to Danica. That was an enormous hit. That SAFER barrier just saved Danica Patrick's life.

Michael McDowell and Robby Gordon transfer in. Trevor Bayne falls back to his qualifying time to make it in.

A few minutes away from the second qualifier. Danica will need a backup car for the big dance. Her car is destroyed and she is lucky to be alive.

Robby Gordon just announced that he was selling his ride to Michael Waltrip.

Drivers strapped in, and the command has been given to fire the engines up for the second Duel! Greg Biffle on the pole.

It looks like you can tandem draft for about a lap or so. Kenseth and Johnson tandem drafting and go to the lead.

Dave Blaney and Joe Nemecheck in the transfer spots. JJ Yeley's on the apron and the engine is off. Yeley will not race on Sunday.

Kyle Busch picking up where he left off on Saturday.

Traditionally, there's one thrilling duel race and one that's not very entertaining. This is the not very entertaining one.

Biffle leads, a lot of cars concerned about overheating. Halfway.

3 laps to go, Biffle leads Reagan Smith in second.

White flag, Kenseth passes Biffle with help from Johnson. Johnson overheating.

Kurt Busch pushes Kenseth to victory.

Very uneventful race.
