Now my dishes are not getting clean mostly cups and bowls on the top rack...we do have hard water, and we had a bad ant problem last summer and they were coming out the faucet. Ive tried switching from powder soap to liquid and that didnt seem to work so im gonna try switching brands....does anyone have any ideas why its not working? Its a whirlpool quite partner 2

And if he doesn't get better, the pool boy will be the new dishwasher. :yay:

You probably have hard water buildup. Place a bowl of vinegar in the top rack of your washer and run it. Then wipe out the insides after. You should periodically clean your dishwasher like this to prevent buildup.

I would check the rotating arms to make sure they are free to spin and the little holes are clear.

wouldnt it just be easier to get the water corrected?
If hard water is damaging the dishwasher, it would also have to be taking its toll on the washing machine, the water heater, the pipes and anything else that it comes in contact with.
Much cheaper to just fix the water.

You mean a water softener? The dishwasher should still be cleaned regularly. Sounds like the OP has never cleaned it.

grab a dishwasher cleaner from the dishwasher soap aisle and run it. if you have a garbage disposal run some hot water and bleach through it, and make sure the bottom of your diswasher is clean, free from debris, and the arm or arms are spinning freely.

If it was meant for the garbage disposal - then probably a non issue.
Clean your washer with plain old vinegar. Cheap. A small bottle is around a dollar and will allow you to clean your washer multiple times.
Deodorize your sink/disposal with baking soda and lemon juice. Cheap.
Sanitize with vinegar or bleach (not at the same time). Cheap.
You don't have to buy expensive products.
You should consider both things a regular cleaning chore and do at least monthly.
Like anything, if you don't clean it regular it builds up grime and gunk and deposits.
You say you moved there last March. Almost a year. Imagine not cleaning your toilet for a year.

Just dont put bleach in the dishwasher, it damages the seals and can cause leaks. I personally hate the smell of vinegar so I use the dishwasher cleaner bottles. They are a buck and I use them every 2 months or so and it works great. But a big thing when you have the disposal is to keep that really clean..hot water and bleach while running it for a minute or two does wonders.
also, don't use those little powder packs as soap..the plastic melts and clogs up the dishwasher.
