I bought some beautiful pansies today from Cardinal Creek Plant Farm.I would check them out if you have never been before they are located on Sixes Road Prince Frederick. What are some other good places to check out? My good friend just bought some flowers at Wentworths and didn't get a lot for the amount of money she spent.

Wentworth way too much. Go to Loveville, either Green Acres or Zimmermans, mennonite owned nurseries. There are others in the same area that are good..

I like this thread. I'm always looking for great farms/nurseries to buy plants from. I know there are so many around that I've never seen or heard of and I'd love to check them out.

We've bought many plants from Wentworth and they've all been great quality. They have a customer reward program that gives you coupons in the mail as you spend money there - every bit helps! But they can be pricey for larger plants/trees. I've bought some really nice plants from Chesapeake Bounty (rte 765, on corner of rte 4 north). They have great produce as well and we always buy our Christmas tree there.

I have gotten so many plants from my step-mother and I also have a neighbor that sends things over in mass. Two years ago, I planted 3 trees (2 survived) that have flowers on them all summer - forgot the name of them :banghead: but the hummingbirds LOVE them. My neighbor gave them to me. He calls these baby plants 'volunteers.' He is an older man, him and his wife are retired, so I appreciate the thought.

Last year, I saw those same trees at Wentworth and they are terribly expensive.

What I don't get from others, I buy in seeds. I have awesome luck with Zinnas. I can get the large/giant Zinnas - toss the seeds in the garden and all summer, constant blooms for $1.49. #2 son was out shopping with us yesterday and picked up some red velvet sunflower seeds so I will see how I do with them.
