I can't look at craigslist - any more info? I know someone who is particularly interested in a young black or chocolate lab.

This is what is in the post.
I found a stray lab that was wandering a construction site/junk yard with no tags or collar. I brought him food and water on Saturday, and I took him in on Sunday to get him out of the rain- I've been feeding him and watching him since. I'd keep him in a heartbeat if I had a yard and wasn't away at work for 10 hours a day, and I absolutely don't want to put him in any kind of kill facility. I think he'd be great with a family- he's great with other dogs and while he seems to be shy at first, he's very friendly with adults and kids. He was a bit skittish initially so I think he may have been abused or has abandonment issues.
He's finally getting used to a leash. I'd say he's about a year old and has a great temperament. I had one identical to him when I was growing up and he was an amazing dog. I have no idea if he has shots, and he's definitely not neutered. I gave him a bath and looked for any signs of ticks or fleas and he seems to have neither. His teeth are super white also. That's really the extent I know of his health. I live in an apartment that doesn't allow dogs, but I figured trying to hide him in my apartment with food and clean water was better than running around a nail filled area with dirty water.
From what I can tell he's been quiet when I'm at work, and seems like he's even been house trained (or he's just that smart). I call him Cody, but he seems more apt to respond to puppy or dude. He's very puppyish, and extremely lovable, smart, and curious. If you have space in your family for a dog, he'd be the perfect guy. I'd also be interested if anyone could foster him until he's adopted or has space in a no-kill shelter. I can't do much, but I'll help if I can with expenses of shots or by volunteering at adoption events. This guy needs a good home, and unfortunately I can only hide him for so long in my apartment.
and the email to contact him.

I had a couple nice emails from the rescuer. Another family asked for Cody before us and they're having a trial run with him. They have 2 other dogs; and they're making sure he and the alpha dog get along. Cody's more interested in their cat. So we're waiting.
So, tentatively still looking for a young lab - preference is chocolate, but knowing how hard it is for black labs to get adopted, will certainly consider a black lab. He or she will be a much loved lab; living where it'll be able to run and romp in a creek - dog friendly neighborhood on a dead end street.

Have you tried Lab Rescue of the LRCP (http://www.lab-rescue.org/) ?
They have events all the time and have 30-40 Labs there.. Make sure you get pre-approved and you can go to one of the events and take one home.

Thanks, we'll have a look if Cody works out (and I think it must be working out or we'd have heard by now) in his current situation. I think they're hesitant to apply to some lab rescues due to stories they've heard (long wait times, insistence on fenced yard). Maybe we can go to an event and get a better feeling for the rescue group.

This Lab Rescue does not require fencing and the application process is painless and easy... If you have Facebook check out their page and all the updates from the people that have adopted through them... Good luck!
