I had a work luncheon and brought sween and sour meatballs/cocktail weiners. My question is, I made the sauce (tomato juice, gingersnaps, vinegar, brown sugar, onion powder) and threw in frozen meatballs and cooked cocktail weiners (lazy i know) and their is a BUNCH of sauce left over. Can it be frozen and used again after the meatballs were already in it?
I just hate to waste.

I would. Just make sure you bring it to a boil before serving when used again.

Yes. It will stay for up to 6 months frozen (or until it gets freezer burned).

Not necessarily. Boiling deals with bacteria but it doesn't do anything to the toxins left by baterica when conditions were ideal for their growth. Most times it's the toxins that make you sick and not the bacteria.

I guess it all depends on how long the balls were festering in the sauce. Good thing is that the sauce is made from tomatoes and vinegar which are highly acidic which bacteria don't like in the first place.

That was my thought too, because of the acid in the vinegar !!

According to my mother in law, it is ok to leave the sauce in the fridge in an open bowl for up to 10 years before reserving to unknowing guests.

you can either scrape the molds off the top before reheating, or you can jus stir until it blends into the sauce.

P.S.
This is why I will not eat at her house.. ever.
