Reuters: Yep, iPhone 5 Will Be Bigger (http://gizmodo.com/5911069/reuters-yep-iphone-5-will-be-bigger)
Yesterday the Wall Street Journal reported that it expects the next iPhone to pack a screen measuring at least four inches. Now, Reuters is joining the party, reporting that its own sources are confident that the phone's screen will measure four inches diagonal exactly.
That's impossible! Steve Jobs assured us that nobody wants a screen larger than 3.5"! It will be interesting to see all the fanboys who said that they don't like bigger screens do a 180 and start praising it.
Smartphone Security Is Heading for 'Apocalypse' | PCWorld (http://www.pcworld.com/article/255720/smartphone_security_is_heading_for_apocalypse.html#tk.rss_news)
What's scarier, though, is that smartphone developers since have focused on features like user interface and screen resolution, as opposed to fixing a fundamental vulnerability that has been public knowledge for at least the past 16 months

I wouldn't mind if they kept it the same size. I carry mine in my pocket and anything bigger, like some of the android phones, is just uncomfortable.

They really did make the iPhone with a new connector/plug in thingy :cussing:
I was hoping that was just gossip.
I think I'm done with iPhones.

Yup. And the adapter costs $30! :yikes:
And your old apps will have black bars on top and bottom to work with the new screen dimensions. And all the new apps designed for the new screen either won't work on the old phones or they'll have to be designed to work on multiple platforms. Apple, welcome to fragmentation :howdy:

And yet none of the hipster douche bags are saying anything about all the old devices that will be filling the landfills because they no longer work with their phones.

My math stinks.....so with the bigger screen, won't the phone be about the size of an index card @ 3"x5"?

An underwhelming upgrade? Check. Already sold out and on backorder? Check. Gotta love the Apple Zombies. They will buy anything thrown at them.

Apple's iPhone 5 praised as 'a Rolex among a sea of Timexes (http://appleinsider.com/articles/12/09/14/apples_iphone_5_praised_as_a_rolex_among_a_sea_of_timexes)
Gene Munster with Piper Jaffray said while the iPhone 5 is like a Rolex, many competing phones "feel more like cheaper Timex-brand watches. He questioned why someone would buy a Timex when they can have a Rolex for the same price.

Your source article used for your proof is an Apple blog? No that's not biased at all.

The quote I was using was from Gene Munster of the Wall Street firm Piper Jaffray, here is an article on Forbes headlining with the same quote:

and congratulations (?) on being so proud of purchasing your Korean phone. I'm happy to support an American company who revolutionized the mobile phone market once it entered it.

An American company that outsources all its manufacturing to China.

I'm ok with the Rolex vs. Timex comparison. I've always considered Rolex watches to be more status than substance for people with more money than brains. I'm happy with my $300 Citizen that can outperform any Rolex on the market in every single way. If it ever dies (it's made of titanium, solar powered, and has been running strong for over a decade), I'll probably get a solar powered G-Shock for $100-200 (they didn't exist back then).

You do realize that Apple sources internal components from Samsung. Samsung manufactures these parts in Texas. Apple manufactures many of its components in China.
Apple knows that Samsung poses a great threat to the their business model, which makes it really funny that they bite the hand that feeds them. Without the cortex processor the iPhone and iPad would not work.
Let me know how the Iphone 5 does without things like flash, expandable memory through SD, and needing an adapter to do everything. Now you will need an adapter, to go to your other adapter to standard things. Congratulations to you, it took Apple over a year, but they are now current with the rest of the smartphone world.

Really? I thought Foxconn had its factories somewhere in Texas...
Seriously though I was just trying to make the point that buying an iPhone is probably better for the country's economy than buying a Galaxy III.
I will say that the new Apple Maps app sucks, I knew Google owned that area, but after upgrading to iOS6 I've realized how much I used Street View now that it's gone! But everyone is up in arms about it, and Apple is Hiring Developers (http://www.zdnet.com/apple-hiring-developers-to-fix-ios-maps-7000004607/) to work on it. So someone is playing hardball, either Google wouldn't renew the agreement (possible since they never enabled turn by turn directions like they do on Android) or Apple wanted to scrub Google from the iPhone. I don't buy that though since google and gmail are both the default options when doing a search or setting up an email account. I'm sure they are scrambling out in Cupertino, this maps fiasco was front page of today's Wall Street Journal! Not the type of press you want on release day....this is worse than the iPhone 4 "Antennagate".
....or maybe I'm just a dork who used the maps apps more than a typical customer

You don't remember the stories about manufacturing employees jumping off of factory roofs in China. Main point all of them make the same product, different OS, the only thing Apple really has is the retina display. On a 4" display the extra 100 pixels are not a huge difference. Apple made no new "breakthroughs" with the 5, and anything they have such as the quad core has already been done.

Actually, the iPhone only has 20 more pixels per inch than the S3.

I was referring more to overall pixels across the screen. Even then 20 ppi is so close its ridiculous. The s3 is a beautiful device, the I5 would only truly get over on one aspect and that would be the processor. I do hear though that in Europe you can get a quad core S3, not sure how true that is.

In that case, the S3 is actually the one with more pixels in each direction.
Yes, the international S3 has a quad core, but only 1GB of RAM. The quad core doesn't work with the LTE in the US for some reason. Not sure how Apple got them to work together when Samsung couldn't.

Saw this last night...made me laugh. I love my S3 but I've never had an Apple to compare it. I kind of have an issue with Apple and Prius and just cannot bring myself to ever own either at this point.

I am also sure that Samsung alone supports more American jobs directly, or indirectly than Apple does. Samsung is a huge company and they make alot more than just cell phones, hell they even make home appliances now.

Never had a problem with any Samsung device. Owned about 3 different flip phones which all worked great. I have not owned a smartphone from them yet though, been partial to Motorola.
