I would really like to thank the women who sat near the semi-drunk, rambling man this morning. You definitely displayed a lack of common sense today. I'm still wondering why you waited until AFTER THE DRUNK GOT OFF THE BUS to tell the bus driver that you heard the man talking to his friend on his cell about making threats and hurting people, and that he might end up on the news. You even told the driver that you knew the man was getting off in DC so you didn't want to cause any disruptions to your commute or say anything to him to get him even more stirred up. IF YOU HEAR SOMETHING THAT ISN'T RIGHT, SAY SOMETHING TO THE DRIVER. Your life, as well as mine, may depend on it.

Did you ever stop to think that she may have saved her live and yours by not making a scene... heck, if he was packing and thought he was being busted he could take out alot of folks on that bus long before the first cop arrived...

Not to pick on you, but what would telling the driver accomplish? He can't throw the guy off the bus for talking on a phone, and the cops can't arrest him before he's committed a crime.

In this country you actually have to wait until someone is hurt or killed before you can stop a crime (that has already occurred and not stoppable but that's....neither here nor there).

I thought you could be arrested for terroristic threats.

Someone please research for me, I don't have time this morning. But I appreciate it. :buddies:

The driver told the man twice to lower his voice. So he got off of his phone for a time, then he got back on it. He pretty much carried on his conversation the entire commute. And even the driver asked the women later why they didn't come up to the front and tell what they were hearing from the man. The driver said he would have alerted the cop he saw standing on the street. If it had been me sitting back there next to the drunk I would have been out of my seat in a flash. It's like they say on Metro, if you see something or hear something that isn't right, then say something to someone in authority.

If you were so concerned about it, why didn't you say something to the bus driver?

I was sitting about three rows up from the man. I could only hear bits and pieces of his conversation, and I had on headphones. I even "sshh'd" him at one point because he was louder than my music. If I had been sitting closer and heard his entire conversation I would have definitely said something to the driver. There were other people sitting beside him, in front of him and behind him who heard everything he said. I only found out that he had been making his crazy statements when the women sitting around him moved up to the front of the bus when it got closer to their stop and they told the driver. By that time the man was off the bus. Believe me, I'm not afraid to say something if I think it's wrong.

Interesting phrase -- I've never heard it before. What exactly does it mean?

Well, it seems you have enough witnesses. Why don't you get them and report it to the police?
