Worst Parent of the Week: Dad Puts Toddler in Washing Machine and Turns it On | Parenting - Yahoo! Shine (http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/worst-parent-week-dad-puts-toddler-washing-machine-183500809.html)

There's no way to know what the parents were thinking. Maybe they were trying to scare their kid into good behavior. Maybe they were just goofing around. Maybe they thought it would be funny -- there's a large sign hanging above the machines, saying "Junior Wash: $2.95." Whatever it was, it could have easily ended in tragedy.

In the silent footage from the laundromat's security camera, the dad scoops up the diaper-clad toddler, shoves him head first into the front-loading washer, and shuts the door. He and the mom seem amused at first, but panic quickly sets in when they realize that they can't get the washer door open. It's locked automatically, and the tot is trapped inside as the washer starts to run. (Warning: The video is disturbing).

The parents should be in jail and the kid in protective custody without access to any of his animal kin. How stupid can a person possibly be ?

I guess we need a law now that says it is probably not a good idea to stick your kid in a washing machine :duh:

How ironic the parents appeared to be moving in slow motion compared to how fast the attendant ran over and came to the rescue. As a bystander my first thought would be to unplug the machine.

I can't bring myself to watch it. Just reading about it is too disturbing.

I saw this kind of by accident. I didn't think too much about the headline or the video until my husband showed part of it to me. I found it to be very upsetting. What happened to the kid, was he ok?

Yeah, I read the video description and opted NOT to watch it.

Apparently it was the "Sitters" but that does not make it any better in my opinion.

It's one thing to put the child in the washer-another to close the dang door. :cds: I watched the tape on TV and thought to myself; at what point did the adult think this was gonna be fun?

People like this need to be sterilized before they can contribute to reproduction. Only intelligent human beings should be able to have kids.
Many people are alive only because it’s illegal to shoot them.

And/or you should have to pass a test; and no grading on a curve.
