F'me.
Ever have your Wife come screaming at you?
I did and it was all my fault for some reason.
The shower valve blew a gasket.
Didn't know where it was coming from until I ripped down some drywall.
Now I get to fix it.
Great weekend.

Damn it, you are right it is all my fault.
Checklist now reads:
Change washer on every single faucet in the entire house, every month.

Cause of leak.
Are they standard?
I would like to get the washer before tearing it apart.
I'm not allowed to shut off the water in the house until tomorrow.

Pretty sure mine doen't even have that. For adjusting flow or just turning it off?

My guess would be to shut off the water.
Closing the valve didn't stop the leak, so I'm guessing it has to be the washer (gasket) that the valve screws into.

Probably an o ring type then.

I am wondering if they are a standard size or do I have to tear it apart and bring the old o-ring with me and match it.
I would like to have the o-ring here when I take it apart.

No clue. You could estimate the size and buy a few in that area. Might get lucky.

With my luck, I will probably be going to Lowe's about 10 times tomorrow.

Is it leaking around the big nut or the small screw? And if that is the hot water side I think you could shut off just the hot and get away with it.

Large nut.
I tried to tighten the nut and it made the drip worse.
I now have a tin foil funnel, routing the water into the shower.
Looks beautiful.

Large nut.
I think it's weird that would even have any type of washer. Just some pipe seal.

See?
You do what you gotta do.
I covered it up so we could still use the shower on the other side.

that is a shut off, so you can replace the 'guts' without having to shut off the entire building ..........
to fix that, yes you will have to shut off the water to the house

Since I have the water drip contained, dripping into the shower. The wife doesn't want me to shut off the water until she leaves to go up to her parents house.
She thinks I will cause more damage.
Figure the odds of that.

It is leaking from the back nut, where the the shut off valve screws in, I think.
