Is anyone looking forward to a really great outdoor, "3 hour tour", rain protected, waterfront, crab eating Friday night on the "SS Minnow"?
I was at Gilligans yesterday and spoke with the Skipper (Art) & his people and, right now, the crabs are running medium and large (no jumbos yet). Mediums are $30/doz and large are $40/doz (No problem for "Mr Howell & Lovie"). The AYCE feast is $26 and consists of small & mediums mixed. These prices can change during the week but they don't change much.
I'd like to get a close head count by Tuesday night so I can call in Wednesday, otherwise we won't be guaranteed seats together. Not that it matters to our group; We is flexible!
The dinner crowd usually starts coming in around 6pm but it's hit or miss. Otherwise I just say: show up and look for me, I'll get there @4:30 and we'll sit wherever we can. There is other food on their menu if you don't want crabs. Check out their website & menu below. Directions are included. :buddies:

its one of those irritating sites that thinks its good to start playing music when you open it.
I never stay on those sites any longer than it takes to back out of it.

Where is Newburg? (I know- I really should get out more!)From where ever you're coming from, get to 234 (Budds Creek Road).
Follow 234 all the way to 301 (it's 19 miles from 5/234-leonardtown to 234/301-Newburg)
Turn south (left) on 301 and go about 1.9 miles.
Turn right on Edge Hill Road (between American Service Center & Newburg Marine).
Go 1 mile on Edge Hill and turn left on Popes Creek Road (very easy to miss).
Follow this road approx 1.5 miles to a hard right and bear to the right.
Another 3/10 mi. and Gilligans is on your left

Where is Newburg? (I know- I really should get out more!)
Due south of Oldburg...
Go where Baja said, but there is an entrance to Edgehill Rd almost immediately after you turn south (left) on 301. IF you turn (right) there, you'll hit Popes Creek Rd within 1/2 mile. There are some VERY sharp turns on Edgehill and Popes Creek roads so BEEEEE careful!
The other route is to go north on 301 from 234 (about a mile) and turn left at Popes Creek Rd which is immediately to the left of the Red Top liquor store on 301 N.

Have to drop the daughter off at the equestrian center for the graduation (not hers, she is next year) at 7:30 so we would not be able to get to there till around 8:30, looks like a no go for us this weekend.
Then the next weekend she has a dance recital that we have to go to then we pull out on vacation at 4am Monday morning.
Looks like we are tied tight until the first weekend in July.

We're covered for Friday @ 5pm. My friend Marcie said I can call Friday if there are any changes. We'll be outside but under the covering in case the storms try to rain on our parade. The temperature is supposed to be breezy & cool, with low humidity; awesome!!
I might see about showing up alone, let the wife unit do the running with the daughter unit.
If that happens, I would be there around 4 to 4:30, I would leave here (Silver Spring) around 3 and just head straight on down.
I will know about this plan later,
I will let you know for sure,,, unless I have a skillet indent in my forehead and am unable to get off the floor to type on the puter,, perhaps I should put the keyboard on the floor before I bring it up, that way I wont have to move much to respond..
ok, latest update.
Daughter decided she would rather spend the night at a friends house in Bethesda, so pan lady will drop daughter off at around 2pm, I will leave work around 2:30,
we should be able to leave the house here in slumville by 3:30.
Both should be attending the festive event. hope to be there by 5ish depending on Beltway traffic.

I also loved the storm while we were there, not so much the storm we hit from Waldorf to home on the way back.
I have never seen 3 and 301 with a solid 2 inches of water covering the whole road all the way. The VW was pushing so hard through the water that the 50mpg dropped to a 44mpg for the ride.
Oh, and the price for Coconut Joes was fair.
we had 4 adults and 2 teens, my bill was only 83.00 for everything.
It does go up a bit for the dinner + hours though.
I never knew it was there, we found it searching the internet this afternoon and just decided to head on down.
