I have a family that eats crabs at least once a week..I used to get them from Mels, and cook myself//I then found Captains Smiths. They use the same seasoning that i use and have always enjoyed there taste...
Recently, i have had some issues.
I bought crabs this past Memorial day weekend, , I called early and they were out of the Med, males..So, against my better judgement, i placed an order for the large males..Now, at one time in my life i was a waterman, and am familiar with crab sizes..
Well to make a long story short,,,I believe that this past weekend that Captain Smith's said they were out of the mediums and then priced them at the Large price..So what was normally 19 a dozen were 39 a dozen and under 5 3/4 inches...A typical bait and switch...

Last year again on a holiday weekend...i was overcharged on a bushel by 40 dollars...

So, i will give them one more chance.

Anyone else have these issues?

So,you had them sell you smaller crabs - and being a former waterman you didn't even look before paying,I'm guessing - and then got overcharged. Why do you keep going there like a sucker? Go to Chespeake's Bounty. They won't steer you wrong,and if they did for some reason,they'll make it right. Ask for Will.

I certainly wouldn't give them another chance. That's not a mistake, it's downright fraud.
You really should have looked at them before paying though.

Jumbo - measuring 6 to 6½" point to point
Large -measuring 5½ to 6"
Medium -measuring 5 to 5½"
Small -measuring 4½ to 5"

minimum legal size is 5 1/4"
