North Point student inducted into FEA honor society

Anna Taitano, a senior at North Point High School, achieved Future Educators Association (FEA) Honor Society status for the 2011-2012 academic year. Only 133 students across the country were selected to be accepted into this esteemed group. This is the first year the national FEA recognized individual FEA members in the honor society. Admission is determined by academic achievement and service to an education-related organization. To be eligible, FEA members must be a sophomore, junior or senior in high school, complete 10 education-related service hours during the current year and prior to the FEA Honor Society application deadline and maintain a cumulative 3.5 grade-point-average on a 4.0 scale. The FEA Honor Society recognizes the accomplishments and service of FEA's highest achieving and most engaged members and strives to elevate the image of teaching by highlighting the high-achieving students who are choosing teaching as their professional career path. Taitano will attend the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) in the fall and plans to major in English and education. Upon completion of her studies at CSM, Taitano plans to transfer to Towson University to finish her degree. She plans to become a secondary English teacher. FEA is an international student organization dedicated to supporting young people interested in education-related careers. FEA aims to motivate middle and high school students from diverse backgrounds to pursue careers in education while studying teaching, working to improve the image of teaching, boosting faculty morale and linking students, parents and the community.
