May be taalking about Vibrio. The first link is an older news item but it occurs every year.
The second link is taken from The Calvert County Health Dept.'s page.

BALTIMORE (August 12, 2010) - The Maryland Departments of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) and of the Environment (MDE) are reminding consumers of the potential risk of eating uncooked oysters, clams, mussels and other shellfish during the warmer months of the year. The yearly increase in Vibrio bacteria as the water temperature warms, is found naturally in coastal waters such as the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. The bacteria can also pose a threat of infection to persons with open cuts, scrapes, burns or sores who are exposed to coastal waters.

Where do they get their water? Mechanicsville, Waldorf...that's what I mean. Different towns get the water from different areas. Also is it from the tap, or was he playing outside in a standing water puddle?

Most, if not all, the central water systems in Southern Maryland get their water from wells and not from one of the rivers.

My posts weren't about the rivers, did you read them? I was trying to find out what type water they were asking about since it wasn't in original post. Thank you for trying to prove me wrong on something I didn't even say though, very refreshing...:buddies:

Funny...I didn't get the impression that the poster was trying to prove you "wrong". I read as they were just trying to provide some information...

They quoted me and gave the information, I never said anything about the water coming from rivers or anywhere. Guess you didn't read the thread either, only what I quoted and said... nm :1bdz:

Nasty stuff! My son was infected in 2007. Because a case hadn't been seen here in years, it took them about a week to isolate it. By that time, it had started destroying tissue around the wound on his leg. He had scratched his leg while swimming off a pier in the Patuxent. After being on some very strong antibiotics for 3 months, it finally closed up. He is OK now but it left a large scar on his leg. Seems Vibrio is becoming more prevalent.

Guess you don't read your own posts. Memory and reading comprehension are both your friends.

:coffee: Simply asking area or more specifics to help find answer. Saw this after my post #6 . Very informative and I hope the answer they were looking for.

Yet another attack by a member that doesn't even know me. Trying to call me out as an idiot.

My reading comprehension as well as my memory is just fine my friend and nowhere was I rude or berating to anyone. Not even you. It was all good and light hearted. Can't say the same for you. I was asking the op what area/ type water they thought it was in. No more no less. Couldn't try to help them with answer without some more info is all. Figured you skipped to last posts like many do in here.

You do know forum attacks to berate a person and their character are a sign of low self esteem don't you?

I'm sorry you feel so bad about yourself that you attack people then blame them for the attack.

Meds time for you (now that is an attack on you by me). Also, I don't have to prove you're an idiot as you do that quite well on your own.

LMAO

I attack nobody on here, not even the ones that deserve it. I never attacked you.
Awww and you hurdded my feelings.:( The meds comment is so typical and idiot is a name to be used on playgrounds not by adults IMHO. You have a great day. :buddies:

I was just at myrtle point park this morning (bike ride) and there was a sign specifically for bacteria levels in the water and it said it was "normal". Looked like a new sign too.

There was also a sign that was in vietnamese... didnt realize there was a such a significant vietnamese population in St. Mary's county as to warrant a sign

The parasites in the water are similar to those in the rivers of Viet Nam. Guess St Mary's county wants to make the little buggers feel at home. It's a P.C. thing.
