Are the fireworks at the fairgrounds permanently gone or is it temporary?

They haven't had them for several years now. Not sure why.

Does anybody know the best place to go? A long time ago when I lived here the first time, we went to Solomons, right by the bridge but I have heard those fireworks are no longer.

HVFD has them on the 30th, I believe.

Yep. I was just talking to the chief of HVFD this afternoon about them.

The county doesn't want to spend the money.

Solomons usually has them, but the crowd get kind of thick.

For info on the fireworks in Solomons, go to the Solomons Business Association website: Solomons Island - The Official Solomons Maryland Visitors Guide (http://www.solomonsmaryland.com)

Probably temporarily permanent! County doesn't want to spend the money to give it's taxpayers a brief summer reprieve.

Hollywood VFD brought them back a couple years ago, and it seems to be a huge success; for the fire department and the attendees. Good times and well behaved crowd; little rowdy later on, but well-behaved.

Is MADD still involved?

I will be at summer camp with my troop over the 4th of July. That is our traditional week. One less day of leave to take.

The fireworks at HVFD are really good, also, if you don't mind taking a little ride, the fireworks show in Colonial Beach is pretty good also.
