That bridge is not one you want to be in a bike accident on, rider and passenger are both sitting above the Jersey barriers, anything goes wrong you'll get wet.

I think that I heard that one patient is being transported by ambulance.

I dont think its a bridge that you want to be in anything and be in an accident. It's to narrow, makes me nervous to be on it.

Just pulled up the bridge cam, see a lot of flashing lights and traffic is at a stand still.

Looks like southbound traffic is starting to move.

Looks like southbound traffic is starting to move.
And it looks like northbound is moving but slowly.

Calvert side of the bridge was backed up at least 3 miles at 11:20PM with nothing moving. A few people (incuding myself) got fed up with the wait and drove north to Prince Frederick, taking the 231 bridge to get back home. I wonder what it will take for the state and surrounding counties to finally make a decision and do something about that deteriorating choke point - they'll probably do something AFTER it collapses into the water.

I think it has less to do with the condition of the bridge superstructure and more to do with the drunk, speeding and/or idiot drivers being unable to navigate it.

Th Baynet reports it this way:

At 9:11 p.m. Sunday night, Bay District Company 9, Hollywood Company 7, Lexington Park Rescue Squad station 38 was dispatched for a motor vehicle accident on the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge.

Chief 3 arrived on the scene and found the accident was at the top of the bridge and involved a motorcycle and a car.

Engines 33, 92 and Squad 7 arrived on the scene at 9:17 p.m. followed by ambulance 389 at 9:18 p.m. and began patient care of the motorcycle rider.
Squad 7 was put in service shortly after arriving on the scene.

The vehicle driver was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital while the motorcycle rider was C-spin immobilized for transport. The ambulance 389 EMS crew upgraded the injuries because the rider was experiencing extremity paralysis and requested helicopter transport. The patient was loaded aboard the ambulance and transported to St. Mary’s airport to meet Maryland State Police Trooper 2.
The ambulance arrived at the airport where the patient was loaded into Trooper 2 for transport to PG.
Engines 33 and 92, Chief 3 and Chief 3A were in service at 10:17 p.m. while ambulance 389 returned to service at 10:54 p.m.

I as walking the boardwalk at Solomons when this all unfolded. First to fly by was a Calvert County Police car, and then 2 flashing bue lights came up the St. Marys side, then more and more emergency crews arrived. (Later, it looked like a helo came out of the Naval Air Station and headed for the bridge. Not 100% on this) I felt bad for all who got stuck on that insane bridge!

My thoughts and prayers for all. :flowers:
