They weren’t there Saturday, Sunday (which they never were) but none again this morning. Are they done? Did they move somewhere else? Will Gate 3 back to normal hours soon?

They have moved their protest to gate 2 across the street. Base police have said they have noticed them getting a bit more aggressive as of late so who knows.

They're lucky people don't throw tomatoes at them as they drive by...

After the first day the most aggressive thing I've seen the do is wave, I did see a county cop yelling at one of them once, but I don't know what for.

There was a sign, on the right side of the road about 1/2 way from Gate 1 to the check point, that directed LM employees to use Gate 3.

Does anybody else see the folly in that sign. Like where in the hell is the person supppose to turnaround and you have 3 other inbound lanes of traffic that can't read the sign anyway.

Jumping out in front of moving cars, getting in peoples faces who have nothing to do with lockheed Martin, or the strike. They rented a plane with a banner and flew it over restricted air space last week. Guess striking hasn't hurt their ability to pull funds together for that.

Jumping out in front of moving cars, only saw that on the first day getting in peoples faces who have nothing to do with lockheed Martin, or the strike.never saw anyone do that, don't know when they would have had a chance to do it They rented a plane with a banner and flew it over restricted air space last week. never saw that, hope the pilot had to have a talk with the FAA Guess striking hasn't hurt their ability to pull funds together for that.
I'm originally from Michigan where the UAW has made striking an art form, I was definitely less than impressed with their effort.

The first day of the strike a guy was walking in front of cars. They have gotten close to hitting my truck on the way in with their picket signs. Did not know about the plane.

IAM is funding most of the ventures (same union we are part of), I think they suck by the way. The best displays of striking I have seen have been when it rained. First time must have been about 50 or so people chanting and waiving signs (when they almost hit my truck). Second time IAM had their tour bus down here which much have cost $500k, this time I think they bussed in some more help, had a guy with a bull horn etc.

Nothing too insane. I would have been a scab from day one, cannot survive that long without a paycheck and IF rumor is true then they had a pretty sweet deal lined up with the new contract.

The banner read something like "lockheed=greed" it was reported to the tower so most likely it was reported to the FAA.

Glad they are gone. Now we can see traffic coming of the base... F-tards parking right on the corner blocking the view... I nearly got hit by a bus that was turning on to PHR when he saw the parked cars on the right and swung wide...

Were outside Gate 2 for a good chunk of yesterday. Signs said "New Hires Pension" with a check mark in the yes box. Nope, a 401K is not good enough, I suppose. And another said "We need affordable healthcare". I think maybe that one was left over from the last set of union organized protests. Or they think they are too good to contribute towards their health plan like most working folks.

Either way, they come off as spoiled children who cant understand simple economic realities.

That is what is referred to as the union mentality.
In probably every other culture the unon, management and ownership work as partners. Not in the US, it's 100 percent advesarial.

It's why our manufacturing base moved overseas - unions wanted more and owners did too. Owners caved to keep product flowing while selling technology instead of modernizing plants in the US. One day, labor costs were to high, work rules out of date and infastructure was in the cesspool.

Like the crew insisting that they need a cabana for shade, and taking wood needed for the rudder and keel to do so. Not enough, so they go after the hull planking next.

Exactly! Their two gripes are health care and pension for new hires. How many contractors are offering pensions these days?? Either way, why are they upset about new hires not getting pensions if those new hires are choosing to work there and know what they'll get? That's insane. Supposedly their health care offer was right around the industry standard...not that most of them (locally) use it since they have other healthcare benefits being former military (so I hear). Yet they're striking because the rest of the union in Texas wanted to strike. For those two reasons? Complete idiocy. I hope LM fires all of them and replaces them with non union workers.

By the way, what's with them bringing their kids out early in the morning to join them in the picket line? Shouldn't they be leaving their kids at home and, I don't know, let them sleep?

My company (150,000 strong) did away with pensions for new hires about 5 years ago. Anyone who had a pension before that got grandfathered, but no new ones, everything is now 401k.

Raises were poor, we got half of what the strikers rejected as being too low.

Big economic reality check needed here....

Agreed... Thanks to the lovely economy I haven't had a pay raise in 4 years... Lucky our little IT firm is still in business... While every tax, tariff, fee and insurance cost here in MD have gone up... Wife's a fed so everyone can guess their last pay raise date...

What is it about unions that they are so determined to be above what the rest of the workforce is going through?

Were are they striking tomorrow? I don't even work for lockhead but I plan on joining the strike for the day. It sounds like a good time.

I was going to post - RAISE, who has gotten a real raise, hell, under the new STRL plan you don't even get the full COLA if you don't walk on water.

j/k

But it did make me think, firms doing business with the government don't usually offer raises over what congress gives to civil service. I would be rather bad faith to increase their employees compensation with congress looking to save money. I know one prime that has furlough days to save money - doesn't mean the work doesn't have to get done, it's just one day they don't get paid to do it.
That is actually a pay cut.
