I feel that a large number of Charles County High Schools are unfairly ignoring the opportunities for girls to play on team sports. They emphasize boy’s sports.

Many girls’ sports, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, and Softball go without experienced coaches leading to unfilled team positions. Schools look at these coaching positions being filled as secondary concerns. These are loss opportunities for girls.

I have found that girl student athletes have higher GPA's. Team sports offer many life skills that will help girls gain confidence in themselves.

I know it is all about education. I think teams sports help to improve education.

I would love to know peoples thoughts on this subject.

Are you looking for the school system or the community to fill these "vacancies"?

I say, you coach the team you want - gain your own experience. What is worst that can happen? If you fail at being the coach, the school system and community may take the time to look for a more experienced coach - you win. If you succeed at the being the coach - you win. Win - Win

Otherwise, there are, quite possibly, many other avenues for team sports that are not connected directly through the school.
