View Full Version : Gloria's Pawn Shop - MIA?

Anyone know what's going on with Gloria's Pawn Shop? Every time I've stopped by recently, they've been closed, or had curtains drawn, or a "not here now" sign in the window. The hours don't even seem to match the sloppy handwritten signs they do post.

I know Gloria's husband has legal trouble and was told to stay away for two years' probation, but it seemed they had plenty of other employees to make up for his absence.

I wish a "real" pawn shop would realize there's a market opportunity in SoMD - a store like Pawn America or similar, found in most large towns. They are consistently full of clean and clearly priced goods of high quality, decently priced, nicely sorted and arranged, and not reeking of cigarette smoke from the shop employees.

I've noticed the same thing. When I was a freshman in college and took Introduction to Business, the first thing they teach you about running a business is to have hours of operation that don't change.

I believe Mr. Gloria went to jail over some irregularities at the store and shortly after it closed.

I had gone there to look for stuff that was stolen from us when I ran into a young man that had come to reclaim his computer. Poor soul, Gloria apparenlty out of business now.

Wasn't Gloria's husband the one that shot the young man outside of Canopy years back. I think I remember they had a second location named Ashley's that was located next store.

Yes, I was told he died in prison.
