I have a friend who is the back-up walker for a lady who has 2 dogs. She is being deployed for 4 months and the dogs need a place with a yard to spend time and play daily.

She says: "I am looking to see if you guys can recommend any comfortable, long term boarding locations in the MD/VA area that would take Harley and Skimo for close to 4 months. They are both spayed and neutered and I am looking for somewhere better than them just thrown in a kennel (but without bankrupting me). Ideally would like to keep them together and where they can have lots of outside time. I dont know anyone that has had to do this so I figured you guys would know of the best options in the area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. "

So even if a private person would be willing to care for the dogs for a monthly fee, that would be great.

Your friend should post a request on every bulletin board on base that she can find.

I figured that we'd be able to find someone, and considering the cost of boarding at a kennel, a private home would be her best bet. Obviously she wants someone who she can verify would be a good placement for 4 months also.

She found a relative willing to take care of the dogs.

That was pretty much how I felt too when I read the email.
