Don't do it!!! Quick and easy isn't always a good idea. As has been mentioned, lots of people grow to regret it, how vigorous they are over time and how hard to get rid of.
Get some native arborvitaes. Much prettier.

There are different kinds of bamboo. Some is very invasive, and others are not. Just have to do some research.

Also, bamboo is the native habitat for Asian Tiger Mosquitoes. I agree with the others....don't do it.

Bamboo big no no.
I too am looking for a barrier, and am leaning towards Western Red Cedars.

When I was young and dumb I tried the exact same thing and it was a HUGE mistake. We were trying to kill bamboo shoots in the yard for years and as of last year we still had bamboo shoots coming up through the azailias. This is over 10 years after removing the bamboo.

thanks for all the feedback. ive heard that they are invasive. However theres a few types of bamboo from what ive read, running and clumping.
the clumping type is the one thats not so invasive(from what i know).
Im not sure though if its just less bad, than the running type.
