I saw the Wal-mart commercial where they upload your Dvd movies to basically a cloud and you can watch them on your tablet. Well, our device is not listed among the recommended ones. Does anyone know of how I can get movies we have saved somewhere so my husband can watch them on his tablet when he's on travel? He needs to be able to watch them even without internet access. TIA.

Are these movies that you've purchased and, if so, did they come with the little certificate for a free digital copy that some studios are including now? And what kind of tablet do you have?

I'm sure there are other ways of doing it, but what I do is use those certificates and go online to download a digital copy of the movie to my desktop computer (in my case, I use iTunes, but some of the certificates offer other distribution options). Once I've done that I can upload the movie to my iPad from that computer or download it to my Pad from the cloud over WiFi.

He likes to be able to watch them on a flight. I don't know much about whether or not internet costs $$ on an airplane.

They are mostly older dvd movies so I'm sure if there was a certificate it is long past the expiration date. He has one made by Aesus (not sure of exact spelling).

Just get DVDFab, copy them into mp4 format and put them on the tablet. You can copy the files directly to the tablet or get a few SD cards to use for movie storage (a single standard definition movie will be ~2GB).
DVDFab DVD & Blu-ray Copy, DVD Ripper, Blu-ray Ripper Software. Copy DVD, DVDR, Blu-ray Disc to PSP, or iPad/iPhone/iPod. Copy Blu-ray to BD-R, MKV, or Hard Drive for both Windows and Mac. (http://www.dvdfab.com/)

Not the ones I have. Once you register the copy and get it from iTunes, as far as iTunes is concerned you've bought the movie. You can then download it to whatever devices or computers you want whenever you want.

Okay. Then something along the lines of what ylexot said should work. Once you've converted the movie to a recognizable file format with something like DVDFab, you should be able to connect the tablet to your computer and drag the files onto it.

I agree. DVDFab is great. And there are others out there. My tablet also has a standard USB port (Acer) so you could put them on a stick and view that way on a tablet if you have a USB port.

Thank you all. I'm going to look into cost, easy to use, etc.

I was talking specifically I Am Legend, when I unlocked the digital copy on the DVD w/crappy windows media player ...... I did a computer rebuild, and tried to unlock the digital copy again I was told the 'key' had expired after 12 months

it is legally risky, but rather than go through the hassle of converting I just aquired mp4 copies from the interwebz

although I used Handbrake for a couple of yrs with no issues
