If you say so. I feel many in here prompt good discussion or try to, learning (something new daily) and grow as a person daily after my visits here. Leave knowing I'm not a cold hearted, jaded adult that finds humor in others misfortune and that I'm OK. I overlook the stupid smart ass posts of those that try to spoil the threads. Or just have a good laugh, its good for me. Yet I don't at anytime feel the need to start numerous threads trying to berate the other members here or act superior of them. So you rock on, blend as you say. Good luck with that. :buddies:

Perspective and perception are funny things. When we read something, we each bring to it our own ideas and reference points, based upon our own experiences. When I read I'm Me's post, I saw it as merely a light-hearted comment meant to start off a light-hearted discussion about the foibles of our beloved somd online. To me, when one includes the :coffee: smiley, it is meant as a way to just toss an idea out there, to discuss or not, as the reader chooses. Perhaps my perception is based upon the history of I'm Me's posts since she's been on (I have only the words to judge as I've not met her yet). Perhaps it is because I look for good in people first. Perhaps it was just because I'm in a good mood today. Who knows?

But isn't it interesting that the two of us had almost opposite perceptions of the same post? No wonder we as a group, sometimes wander into literary cage match territory...:coffee:

In the more active days of the last 5-6 years in these forums, although there were some areas where mutual respect and non-confrontational intellectual discussion were welcome and supported, those active days also had flame wars, karma wars, breathtaking sacasm, and (frankly) cruel humor. Say what you will about those things, but niceness and peace are BORING to most of the users around here. World War II taught us that war is good business, and marketeers have known for years that sex sells. And TV broadcasters survived the vast dearth of prime-time watchers by airing daytime soap operas riddled wit the same BS that goes on here.

And frankly, after a while it gets annoying to see stupid posts by apparently stupid people. Stress is the irresistable desire to choke the ....... out of somebody who desperately needs it.

I don't know when I finally understood the psychology of the place and the way it's sustained. But it is a little unsettling to see a thread in a main forum sit for days without an update and no replacement for the thread. It's an anomaly that resembles a boarded-up business.

The Dr. Oz show is a perfect example that "drama sells". The show titles are always meant to sound like the intention is: OMG you just HAVE to watch THIS show! How many times can you have a show about weight loss secrets with an audience full of fat people? Have they not been trying the OTHER 5,000 secrets shown before?

I got tired of the drama-filled show titles, and stopped watching the show. I wonder how Dr. Oz feels about the show titles? He doesn't seem like the type to go for that kind of hype.

I don't come here for drama at all, even though I seem to be mixed in it now and then LOL
