And anyone else who's having a function where there is going to be gifts exchanged. I know there are other threads about this, but the way it was explained on Rush was too funny. Rush is right (he nearly always is); this is ridicule-worthy. Obama's spending so much money vaca...er, fund-raising that even his wealthy friends can't keep up.

On a serious note, this is disturbing for the continued polarization factor that has been a hallmark of this post-racial president and his administration. Polarizing obama cultists, isolating out anyone who is not (ra-a-a-acists!).

Obama's Desperate Fundraising Ploys - The Rush Limbaugh Show (http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2012/06/22/obama_s_desperate_fundraising_ploys)

RUSH: I checked the e-mail as I always do during the break. And there's some people that do not believe our caller Andrew. They thought he was making it up about Obama asking you to forego wedding gifts. He's not. This is at the Drudge page. It's called the Obama Event Registry. And here's what it says. "Got a birthday, anniversary, or wedding coming up? Let your friends know how important this election is to you -- register with Obama 2012, and ask for a donation in lieu of a gift. It’s a great way to support the President on your big day. Plus, it’s a gift that we can all appreciate -- and goes a lot further than a gravy bowl."

He was not making it up. The Obama Event Registry. You can click on "register with Obama 2012." You're getting married or you have a birthday. You're supposed to tell your guests to donate to Obama instead to you. It's right here. Obama is asking people getting married to forego gifts for themselves and ask their guests to donate to him. It's a guy calling other people greedy and selfish. Exactly right. Now Valerie Jarrett's daughter got married not long ago. Did she forego gifts? Valerie Jarrett's daughter. Did Obama ask Valerie Jarrett's daughter to ask her wedding guests to send money to him? No way. You know it didn't happen.

THE EDITOR'S COLUMN: Storm of tragedy builds, Fast and Furious - morningjournal.com (http://morningjournal.com/articles/2012/06/24/opinion/doc4fe6972f66394447696077.txt?viewmode=fullstory)

The curtain rises on Friday: The Fool, the Obama-Biden campaign, displays its latest handiwork — The Obama Event Registry, speaking:

“Got a birthday, anniversary, or wedding coming up? Let your friends know how important this election is to you — register with Obama 2012, and ask for a donation in lieu of a gift. It’s a great way to support the President on your big day ...” Honest, those are the exact words on the Obama website.

Yes, our majestic president says, in effect, let me be clear ... the heck with YOUR big day, YOUR wedding, YOUR birthday, YOUR anniversary ... gimmie your gift money. My re-election is more important than you!

We can just imagine how this Obamalogic might progress from here ... We can almost hear him say it: Documents? You don’t need no stinking documents, and you don’t need your gift money. I need to keep the documents to get re-elected, and I need your money more! Besides, I’m more important than you or your family. You shouldn’t have had so many children anyway, they’re eating up the money you could be giving to me.

And Michelle says Let’s Move, get fit: don’t eat so much. Give Barack that uneaten grocery money. You’re too fat anyway, America.

Show that Catholic Church that’s giving me trouble on my health insurance mandate that you don’t like their “Fortnight for Freedom” protest. Don’t give them that collection money. Give me that money. I need it more than that church; they don’t need to get re-elected, I do.

OK. Curtain down again. What's appalling is these folks take themselves seriously.

seems desperate. That's a good thing. We can only hope. He has a good chance of being re-elected. There are still a lot of stupid people out there. Just look at California. They're bankrupt and keep re-electing the same idiots....Pelosi. :banghead:

I saw this days ago and I still can't quite get used to the hubris of this. Can you imagine, say, Rush suggesting this, for his broadcast? Or Newt, for his various programs or campaigns?

Forgive the comparison, but I can't even imagine a despot in some Third World nation suggesting a donation on his behalf for newlyweds or people with birthdays.

I was trying to picture various dictators doing the same, and I could see it coming from Chavez or Ghadafi. Then it struck me who he is more like....

I just got married a couple weeks ago and if anyone had done this, I probably would have punched them in their respective genital area.
