Triazicide, from Spectracide, kills them on contact and your don't have to lure their entire family there to kill them.

And you'll be luring them in from miles downwind. The traps work great but luring and killing a thousand beetles seems much when the original problem it's 50 beetles..

I have just noticed Japanese Beetles since I planted Sun Flowers for the first time in 13 years being here. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? Your Beetles appear to be on Rose Bushes, and mine are on my Sunnies!!

Sevin didn't make them multiply; one on top of the other made them multiply. There seems to be an "odd beetle out". Wonder what he's thinking?

We're fighting them too! Hubby has sprayed a couple of times, but they seem to come back. He noticed a few on the wildflowers yesterday evening. Maybe it's just a bad year for Japanese Beetles??

I quit planting flowers/ rose bushes around the house. Have enough trouble keeping the spiders and flies killed off. :banghead:

Yes, I disgusted by the number of spiders this year. And we must swat at least 10 of those huge evil horse flies every time we're outside! The bugs are ridiculous!

The traps seem like a double edged sword. You kill the but then again you lure a lot of them from miles away. Does the trap get all of them or jsut most. We are having the same issue but I don't want to get the trap if its going to intensify the issue.
We've sprayed pesticides on our trees and bushes and we only see a few here and there. Goign to spray the grass to kill the grubs in the ground this fall.

That is why I put the traps in my neighbor's yard two blocks over...:starcat:

I was thinking about putting a trap near a retention pond a block over (so I am not on anyone's property). How well does having one a couple blocks away work?

Use liquid Sevin instead of the powder, gets injested by the beatles better and will wipe out the infestation in a day. To kill the larvae, use Milkey Spore and treat the ground around the plants with it for about two seasons. MS is a bacteria that infects the beatles and wipes out any future infestations.

The neighbors and us have put out the traps. There was a mass infestation on the block. Seems to be starting to work pretty well but the baggies do fill up. Wonder if the warm winter allowed them to multiply fast... We hadn't had them before this year.

I've got them on my basil plants.
Anything non-toxic I can use to get them off? I don't really like the taste of Sevin...

The stuff I've used for apple trees, peach trees, raspberry bushes and blueberry bushes is suppsoed to be safe for vegetable gardens, all you have to do is make sure you wash the veggies before consuming (which you do anyway). I bought the stuff at lowes.

I have not seen a single jap beetle this year anywhere in the yard.
I think those bastard black ants are keeping them away.
Want I should collect a few million of those ants and turn the loose on your house to see if Im right?
