I found out this past week that my Dentist is retiring; or has retired. Obviously I don't remember which; but I do know that he sold his practice.
How does that work? I mean, when all of the retired Dr.'s records still exist, but there's a new Dr.. Is it just a simple matter of now seeing the new Dr.?:duh:

Your record stays in the building. When the new doctor bought the practice they also bought the records. You can see the new doctor or request a copy of your record to take to a different doctor.

TYVM. I don't see any harm just going to the same office and seeing the new Dentist. All I remember hearing is, the new doc is of the "fairer sex;" which matters not. And if she's easy on the eyes, I might look forward to going. Yeah, that's a chauvinistic statement.....

If your dentist was Dr. Knowlton, then the new Dr. is Denise Mulunex. She is very nice and if I remember correctly also pretty.

Sorry Dixie, I don't know the Dr.'s name. Dr. Knowlton's office is/was in the Exploration bldg. complex.

Oh, okay. You guys know I was only being sarcastic about the 'if she's easy on the eyes' comment, right?

Shirley you jest.
Dr. Gainer was on Great Mills Road and his practice was taken over by a female who is both young and pretty. She's quiet - Dr. Gainer used to sing the entire time he was working on you. And his hands smelled nice. And he did this weird little gum shaking thing when he was giving you novacaine so it didn't hurt.
I could never figure that out, but he was right, it didn't hurt.

Dr. K. did that too. But with me, he would have to put lidocane on my gums before even thinking of sticking me with a needle; but he'd hit that nerve every time; which is the point of the shot, I guess. <sarcasm> If I had to have a shot, whichever side it was on; that whole side of my face would go numb. I hated that part.

Yikes! I wonder whatever happened to the good old fashioned nitrous oxide. I loved that stuff....

I used to LOOOOVE that stuff too! That's the only thing I ever did to get high; and that's the only way I ever did it; in the Dentist chair.

I was too young to realize that was what was going on but I distinctly remember that all 10 dentists that were spinning in circles as they worked on my teeth, looked exactly alike. Weird.....

They still have it. It's used to relax you, does nothing to numb your mouth/tooth though.

I've had a number of dentists over the decades, military and civilian, along with a few walk-in dentists for emergency abscesses, etc., and I have never had a problem with any of them.
All did the work required with professionalism causing me no further discomfort, except in the wallet, as usual.
As long as I see that/those degree(s) with Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an established, accredited school on the wall, I'm good with it.
