The jellyfish are here a bit early. They have been reported all the way up to Sandy Point in swimming areas. Folks have been stung off the beach at Calvert Cliffs State Park.
Swimmers and those involved in water sports may want to dress for immersion and read up on how to deal with jellyfish stings.

Theyve been at our place for a couple weeks now unfortunately. We normally dont get them until mid July.
My lil guy (5) was swimming and went under when one got him on his face as he came up it then got stuck on the inside of his life jacket. Got him really bad all over his tummy. He was not a happy camper :frown:

As I understand, they presence has to do with water temp and salinity.
We keep a jar of meat tenderizer with us, as it helps with the sting.
So much for summer time swimming in the Bay....:cds:
The Chesapeake Bay Interpretive Buoy System (http://buoybay.noaa.gov/news-listings/109.html) has a nifty web site with the buoys that help with sea nettle possibility based on water temps. Check it out!
Thank you!

They showed up this weekend at our Beach on Pax River. A Friend's Child got stung all over her leg...poor thing. This is what I've used in the past, get a Spray Bottle of Vinegar, and don't forget the Benedryl. Also take some Sand, and rub it to help exfoliate the Jelly Fish residue.
