Riding around the county, I'm amazed we were only out of power for 17 hours! That's due to a lot of hard work from the crews.

THANKS to all of you!:buddies:

Agree 100% we were out a little over 20 hours. Those guys always do an outstanding job.

I fully believe Smeco is doing everything in their power to get the power back to all customers as quickly as possible. But it's extremely frustrating when neighbors you share a fence line with have power, and you do not. People in Cliffton on the Potomac are still without power and we haven't seen a repair truck since Friday night. Just frustrated.

It is frustrating to be the one without power. Hope you get it soon.:huggy:

Same issues for us in Hughesville. Most irritated by the fact that SMECO didn't send anyone out to remove the tree off the power line that was blocking half the road. They were told on a number of occasions since Friday night and even by members of the F.D. that there is no other entrance or exit to our road and that emergency vehicles will not fit under the power line. Who cares if you don't restore the power but not having access for emergency vehicles to all of those people and houses is a public safety issue at least get the tree off the line so the line isn't pinned down to more than half the road.

Pretty impressed with the job SMECO's done - even though I know some are still without power. Dahlgren area is still without power and traffic lights remain down even today - and I didn't see half the damage as I've seen in Charles County.

Hats off to those techs working in this heat - just cleaning up the yard was miserable work - can't imagine 8 or 12 hours of the type of work they're doing. I am sure they're doing the best they can.

SMECO crews always do an outstanding job. As for your situation, I'm sure if there was a 911 call on that road, they would send a crew faster. Everything has to be on some kind of schedule, you can't just :jameo: and accomplish anything.

Only 12 hours here! Prior to that I think the longest our power has ever been out here is 3 hours.

We were out for 24 hours. Cable is still out though.

I feel bad for Dominion, and PEPCO customers. They're saying it will be Saturday before 90% get power back.

After Irene and the recent power outage, we should have all new lines and such NOW, huh?

Still out in White Plains, but they are working on it. I have a lot of respect for SMECO. Hope we'll be fixed today, as the trucks are on Billingsley road making progress.

I'm always amazed by Smeco's hard work and dedication. You couldn't pay me enough to be working outdoors in this heat for the long shifts they're working. I understand how frustrating it is to be without power when it's hotter than hell outside, so I can understand people being upset too. I'm so thankful we only lost power a few hours on Saturday evening while they worked on a nearby line.

Mother Nature has been a major biotch this past year.

I agree they do a great job, I lived in PEPCO territory for 23 years I know how a crappy power company operates. As of this moment, still now power & I'm not whining I know we are one of only two people with out power on my road so we will be one of the last ones to get it back. As for the 911 call, it's a little late to get a crew out there after the emergency is in progress. As of this afternoon there hadn't been a crew out there to remove the tree but it doesn't matter anymore, we did their job for them.

Are you near Stoneybrook rd? My inlaws live there and are still without power. BUT, I heard that the transformer that they had to order has arrived and they are currently hooking it up.

As of this afternoon there hadn't been a crew out there to remove the tree but it doesn't matter anymore, we did their job for them. That's a really bad idea. 7,200 volts will kill you instantly. Many of their distribution lines have automatic circuit breakers that reset automatically unless a crew has deactivated it and installed ground jumpers between the phases. :nono:

Same here. Just under 18 hours and it seemed like a miracle when that power came back on, considering what they had to deal with.

I guess some people think they are the only ones with trees down that need to be removed. Be glad all the tree took out was your power.........not your roof or your life like it did to some other people. At least you can still live in your home and you are not planning a funeral for a family member.

FYI they are working 16-20 hours, my husband, SMECO Chief Lineman got home last night at midnight and was back up at 4 am. They are awesome! They want everyone back online as soon as possible too!!!
