That was the first one I looked at but it looks to be circa 2001, haven't they discovered more plants since then

I might be reading this wrong but native plants don't change. The plants that were here when John Smith sailed down the Chesapeake Bay would still be considered the native plants of this region wouldn't they???? Not sure how many native plants you want to plant but that list has 4 pages.

Are you looking to buy native Maryland plants? If so, there used to be a nursery in St. Leonard that specialized in them and I got quite a few specimens from them. If so, I can try to find out if they're still in business and pass the information on.

Yes, please; that would be great!

Okay, this may take awhile but the place was awesome as was the owner, who knew about every single plant in depth. I believe they were open to the public only one day a year but you could call and make an appointment to come over. Off to search...

I found where I linked to their web site:

http://forums.somd.com/home-garden/31233-low-maintenance-plants.html#post564498

But unfortunately going to it says:

Lower Marlboro Nursery is closed as of May 2011.

Thanks to all my customers/friends and best wishes for a successful gardening year.

Bummer. :ohwell:

I did check that and there wasn't anything listed. She's definitely out of business according to all the sites I checked. :frown:

I did find this about finding native Maryland plants:

Chesapeake Bay Field Office | BayScapes Native Plants Nurseries (http://www.fws.gov/ChesapeakeBay/BayScapes/bsresources/bs-nurseries.html)

This one looks promising and may be worth further investigation:

American Native Plants.Net (http://www.marylandnativesnursery.com/)

Yeah but she probably still exists right? And surely there are some skilled stalkers on this forum who could offer some suggestions! Don't give up hope. (Insert little hugging smiley thing)

Where can I get a current list of these plants?

Try the master gardener group in your county. The only place I can reliably get native plants is at the annual MG plant sale.

UME - St. Mary's County - St. Mary's County (http://stmarys.umd.edu/)

Home and Garden Information Center (http://www.hgic.umd.edu/)

Hey Jet, just curious: do you have a plan in mind for indigenous landscaping, or are you just researching?
