Obama Admin Gave $98.5 Million to Alternative Energy Company Now Going Belly-Up (http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/07/05/Betting-on-Cronyism-Alternative-Energy-Company-Received-98-5-Million-Loan-From-Obama-Admin-On-Verge-of-Going-Belly-Up)
The Obama campaign unveiled a new “Betting on America” slogan today, but there is increasing evidence that all his administration has done is bet on cronyism.
The Obama administration made a disastrous, reckless, and failed bet on the green energy company Solyndra.
And now, according to a report by the Washington Times, a geothermal energy company to whom the Obama administration gave a $98.5 million loan guarantee is in serious financial trouble and the “company’s auditors have questioned whether it can stay in business.”
Nevada Geothermal Power (NGP) “has substantial debts and does not generate enough cash from its current operations after debt-service costs,” according to an internal audit seen by the Times.
“The company’s ability to continue as a going concern is dependent on its available cash and its ability to continue to raise funds to support corporate operations and the development of other properties,” NGP auditors said, according to the Times.

Add this $98.5M to:
Solyndra $528M
Beacon Power $43M
Ener1 $118M
And that's $787.5M taxpayer dollars down the tubes in the name of green energy.

What's the "Channey Military"?
Any links to back up your assertion?
So do you think the $787M was a smart use of money?

So do you think the $787M was a smart use of money?Giant would think anything obamy does is OK. It wouldn't matter if he gave all the taxpayer dollars to failing companies, he'd think it was a wonderful idea. Obamities are brainwashed.

Well...lets see...When I read the word "Channey" I think someone probably means Dick Cheney, who served as the Secretary of Defense and VPOTUS, but difficult to tell. On the other hand, since there is nothing to substantiate the rant, I see it as mindless chatter.

You seem to be doing that quite a bit (whether "Sargent" or "Channey")...perhaps it is the intense heat we have been dealing with; however, I have a different perception.
I am indeed a man of the Military, retired after 21+ years of Active Duty and am definitely upset, but not for the reasons you might think. Now...please explain to me, in your own words, why you think I should be upset about being a member of "Channey's" military.

Unfortunately he was left with no choice. The draw down of troops set in place by Bill Clinton meant some of the positions had to be outsourced. Next?

The Military didn't outsource Military Policemen. They outsourced some of their duties due to the draw down...reasoning, the active duty MP's found themselves spending most of their time deployed overseas to not so nice places.

Agree with what? Bill Clinton, his law, military downsizing, outsourcing military responsibilities???? WOW...having a discussion with you is exhausting. You have absolutely no understanding of the topic and continue to ask annoying questions to hide your ignorance. Here is a recommendation...take some time and educate yourself on the different laws that have been signed over the past few decades, and if you still don't get it, then we will talk.

The amount that the taxpayers are taking the hit for continues to increase as the value of the stock we hold continues to decrease, but here is an older story on the subject that you clearly know absolutely nothing about.
The Government Now Expects To Lose $23.6 Billion In The Auto Bailouts, $9 Billion More Than Its Previous Estimate, An Increase Of Over 50 Percent. “The Treasury Department dramatically boosted its estimate of losses from its $85 billion auto industry bailout by more than $9 billion in the face of General Motors Co.'s steep stock decline. In its monthly report to Congress, the Treasury Department now says it expects to lose $23.6 billion, up from its previous estimate of $14.33 billion.” (David Shepardson, “U.S. Boosts Estimate Of Auto Bailout Losses To $23.6B,” The Detroit News, 11/14/11)

Look at the one non-government motors company that didn't take a bailout. Posted profits waaay before GM did.
On another note, if GM is doing so darn well now, why can't they pay back their bailout to the American public?

Would you hire President Obama as your financial adviser? Three years ago his administration invested more than $100 billion in taxpayer money to bail out General Motors. On Tuesday, the entire company, not just what the government owns, was worth less than $34 billion. By anyone’s definition, that investment is a glaring failure. Yet over the last few days the Obama campaign, in a $25 million marketing blitz, has flooded the airwaves with ads in battleground states, claiming the bailout should be counted a rousing success.
Unfortunately, assertions that “all loans have been repaid to the federal government,” that the bailout “saved more than one million American jobs,” that “U.S. automakers are hiring hundreds of thousands of new workers,” that GM is again the “number-one automaker” — all are based on creative accounting.
The money the government spent adds up quickly: $50 billion in TARP bailout funds, a special exemption waiving payment of $45.4 billion in taxes on future profits, an exemption for all product liability on cars sold before the bailout, $360 million in stimulus funds, and the $7,500 tax credit for those who buy the Chevy Volt. GM’s share of other programs is harder to quantify but includes, for example, some of the $15.2 billion that went to Cash for Clunkers. Those costs are in addition to the billions taken from GM’s bondholders by the Obama administration.

Solyndra $528M
Beacon Power $43M
Ener1 $118M
Abound Solar Inc $400M Filed for bankruptcy
Amonix $6M laid off 200 workers (2/3 of it's workforce)
Solar Trust $2.1B Filed Chapter 11 in April
And that's $787.5M taxpayer dollars down the tubes in the name of green energy.

Having just $34 billion to show after a $100 billion-plus investment would get a chief executive of any private company fired. Unfortunately, Obama does not seem to understand how this money has been wasted.
He stands there and lies to the American people everyday.....and he gets aways with it. I don't understand why there are still people out there that are stupid enough to vote for him again. :banghead:
