Are you kidding me? Clarkes Landing 4th place best crab cakes?? Hadn’t been down there for quite awhile so took the other half out to dinner the other night. I Had the steak and crab cake dinner. The worst crab cake I’ve ever had. No taste, bland, nothing. Had to ask the waitress for some Old Bay so it was edible. Steak was just as bad, no seasoning at all. Won’t even talk about the crab muffin she had (beyond bad) I don’t mind supporting a local business but we won’t be going back there anytime soon.

I wonder if there's some brain-blip going on in the kitchen. I, too, have had a bland tasteless crabcake and steak with no seasoning at Clarke's. But I've also had a very good steak and excellent seafood there, too. I think one of their preps omits things at random or something.

Blue Wind Gourmet has one of the best crabcakes I've ever eaten, and they didn't even place.

Why is a crab cake so difficult to make? K.I.S.S. I don't want a coulis sauce or wasabi or pimentos in or near mine; and I don’t want pasteurized crab meat. Gheeze Louise, a good crab cake has less than 6 ingredients a great crab cake has 5-WTH? :cds:

Same here, my daughter and I went there last year and it was terrible. So is Dry Dock in Solomons. Atmosphere is nice, but food is lousy, imo.

I go so far as to have Rob make me up 3 pounds at a time and bring it as a 'present' when visiting friends and family. Whatever doesn't get used (which is rare) gets make into patties and frozen. When thawed, they are still better than most crab cakes you can get locally.

I call them (restauranteurs) out on it when I travel to Florida. Same with MD style crabs, I always ask what is MD style and they say :blahblah: and crab seasoning. I ask what seasoning is it and it is almost never Old Bay (found it used once). After telling them what I really think about their false advertising I leave and find a different place to eat.

different places...different taste.. and different peoples likes

I like the Ruddy Ducks...it had great flavor, it was creamy tasting, LOTS OF crab meat... almost no filler...how they got it to stick together was amazing.

I have had stoneys... its not bad... was better a few years ago. not creamy tasting, but not dry, chunks of crab meat..and not bad on the filler.

The best one that I had was at Bowens Inn in Solomons Island. Huge crabcake, all lump meat, no filler and delicious, all for $ 10.00. Sadly, there was a fire and I dont think they rebuilt. I've heard Jerry's in PF is really good and I think I saw it on here, The Back Creek Bistro in Dowell.

Today? They sold out of the crab melt special yesterday before 1130am.

Yes, wasn't even 12 o'clock yet.

Yeah, and that's not like Rob. Didn't see him, maybe he's off this week or something.

:smack::smack::smack::smack::smack:

I went there for lunch for a crabcake sammich, and they were sold out!!!!!

Damn you! Damn you all to hell!

So I got a Cuban pork sammich instead. Also really really good....

:blahblah:

I was there at 1040, early bird gets the worm. I seen the Cuban sammich on the special board but I wanted a crab cake after reading all of these posts.

Today I went out to get a salad. It turned into a hamburger.

That's a neat trick. Next time see if you can convince it to turn into a crab cake.
