An older model brown pick up truck has been reported along Little Cove Point Road and the back entrance of CRE.
Several windshields have been shattered by bricks and large rock.
One victim is still hospitalized.
Be aware when approaching any older model brown pick up truck.

Becky, please stop. You do more to hurt CRE with your posts than you are aware. You may think you are helping, but you aren't.
For some reason you want to keep CRE in the limelight. That means that people keep seeing your posts about CRE, most of which are negative. CRE has a bad reputation because of people like you.

This post doesn't make sense. Is the pick up truck the one that is throwing things at other windshields? Why watch out for the pick up truck if it's the one that sounds like it's been damaged?

That's what makes it a "glorified" trailer park according to them. And I bet the people with the 750k+ homes would love to disassociate themselves from the rest of it. That hurts their property value...expensive houses among much cheaper ones.

I was questioning the 'still hospitalized'. When did all this happen? Doesn't sound like a 'today' or 'yesterday' thing. If it was last week, the 'warning' is a bit late and the truck is probably long gone.

When you go home, do you ride exclusively through Bev. Hills or the Hamptons?
There are nice places in St. Leonard but you don't have to go far to run through some not so nice areas.
I would say the average cost of a house in CRE is on par with most of the county.

IMHO, Becky's posts and rants do nothing to help the image of CRE. As an owner of a nice home, my property values diminish every time she comes on here as a representative of CRE. Her letter to the editor in last week's Calvert Recorder makes her sound like an imbecile.
I take care of my home and yard, pay my bills and I do believe Security has a place in CRE.
I also vote and have in fact already placed my ballot in the box.

Sorry for bringing this to everyone's attention.
The incidents have been going on for a few days. It's my understanding that they are happening more on Little Cove Point road.
The information we have is all here. If I hadn't told anyone about this and a child was killed by a rock coming through a windshield.... then I would have been just as wrong.
The problem is not so much in CRE as it is on Little Cove Point Road. I mentioned the back gate of CRE so that my neighbors over there would be on the look out.
I really do hope that this does not affect any of you and it ends today.

My Husband and I have lived in CRE for about 8 years. We have 2 small children, and feel 110% safe here. Calling it a "glorified trailer park" is a ridiculous over-generalization. If I made an over-generalization about CRE based on MY personal experiences here I would call it:
A beautiful, quiet, wooded neighborhood with well maintained houses and decent neighbors.
Even I know that the above is not a truthful statement about the ENTIRETY of the community. But, still, here we sit, our property value being diminished and getting the "oh I'm so sorry" look when we tell people where we live. All because some idiot judges an entire community (zip code, really!) based on a small sample of the actual community. There are quite literally THOUSANDS of homes in CRE. That's about the ONLY blanket statement that you could make about the neighborhood that holds an ounce of truth.
If you're calling CRE a "glorified trailor park" its because either a: you've only been to trashy areas. Get new friends. or b: You've unfortunately lived on a street with idiot neighbors, but that could happen anywhere.
WE have great neighbors, no traffic, privacy, quiet, we take walks all the time and our kids can play outside in the front or back yard without worry. Our neighbors have all been here about as long as we have, and none are planning on going anywhere. I know there are some who can't say the same in CRE....But they are not people who live over here where we are.

Amen. You would not believe the BS that happens there if you have not lived there. The Maryland State Police and Calvert County Sherriffs office should set up a direct mobilized command center with rapid reaction force police officers standing by to protect the good hearted citizens of the entire east coast before the SMIBS of the ranch club are alowed to breed children. may the curse of our powerful GOD in heaven strike you if it is in his will and strike the smurk on on worthless mouth.

Seriously, I think that you have to be the most ignorant poster yet. I live in CRE. I moved to Southern Maryland 11 years ago. So I am not a SMIB. I take care of my property and so do my neighbors. There are some want to be thugs but guess what they are everywhere. I hold a PhD, have a six figure income, and oh by the way my house still is still valued well above what I paid for it. My neighbors are all professionals or own their own business. None would fit the standard definition of SMIB. CRE or the predecessor Ranch Club were not founded by SMIBs.
Seems to me people who bash any place are simply bullies trying to make themselves feel better. Why don't you see if you can find some other way of compensating for what ever you seem to be lacking? Perhaps you could go to Michaels and get yourself a hobby.
As far as Becky goes, she hasn't got any sense. I've been acquainted with her for almost 7 years. She is a sad relic of what the community was. She does not represent what the community is. She does not get that the community has passed her by.

People who live in glass houses........
You clearly misunderstood what I was saying, between this post and your next. What I was saying is that those 750k+ houses and whatnot don't want to be associated with the rest of the neighborhood...because lets face it, CRE is basically an oversized neighborhood. It's not really a town, it's part of Lusby which has more than CRE. So I was saying that expensive houses in the same community as cheaper ones brings down the value. It doesn't matter if the other houses are 200k or 500k, the 750k houses still don't like it. But what 750k house wants to be surrounded by 200k houses? That's all I was saying.
And I never said CRE was a glorified trailer park, I was trying to explain to you that the "glorified" part of it, according to the person who actually called it such, is those 750k homes that you used to defend it. I even said "according to them".
Oh and to answer your question, I stay exclusively in Bel Air. I would never drive through a slum like Beverly Hills...that's the old run down part, similar to Westhampton. I avoid that area too.

I say that everyone that wants to bash CRE should take a good hard look around their own neighborhoods. Nowhere in the county that you don't have to go far to run through some less fortunate areas.

When you call Chesapeake Ranch Estates or any part of Calvert County ghetto/hood/slum whatever you really don't know what your talking about. Last time I checked the homicide rate in Calvert is what???? There are how many armed robberies taking place a day? :cds: Cry me a river. If you think that for 1 second that any part of Calvert is just the worst place on earth well I would beg to differ. When you compare it to a DC/PG county where crime is a way of life. People there expect to get robbed, burglarized, have their cars stolen etc. They will never ever get a discount rate on insurance and crime is entrenched in their way of living no matter how much "Gentrification" occurs or how many fools are deported, arrested and shipped off to a federal/state penn. Every single time some idiot gets out, they come RIGHT BACK THERE because its what they know, whether they have a house there or not.
The police that patrol Calvert aren't restricted by "Citizen Action Groups" (Lets get these police) and other civil rights liberals who tie the hands of police in how they apprehend criminals. The Calvert sheriffs will still chase the wheels off your car for a brake light, and you will do a year in jail for DUI alone, so don't even think about committing a criminal offense because you might end up getting LIFE! If you don't believe me ask a deputy down there about it. Then ask a DC/PG police officer what they are allowed to do if anything to go after the bad guy. Come back and tell me the difference. Compare the court systems, to where the wheels of justice up north revolve and allow Violent Repeat Offenders to roam in and out of court rooms. Car insurance is lower than it is in other places because theres not constant auto theft and auto break ins. The alcohol related fatal crashes are lower than the rest of the state, whereas in PG county right next door they LEAD the state in alcohol related fatalities. The CRE doesn't have "East Coast Rapist", suitland sexual nightstalkers, groups of robbery thugs going from business to business, citizen to citizen just doing shake downs and armed muggings like you see on the news daily up north. I often hear whining on here about how miserable it is to see that the police are writing speeding tickets here and there because someone is violating the speed limit. Thank God thats all he has to do, and he's not responding to nightly gang wars in the CRE!
Sure I have no doubt in my mind that there are a few "wannabes" and "weed smoking SMIB pillheads" roaming about, but there isn't massive groups of roving gangs just tearing CRE to shreds every night. You don't wake up to constant gunfire, fireworks, and police sirens 24/7. And yes crime always spikes in the summer time. Kids are out of school breaking stuff, acting stupid your always going to have that anywhere. Some of you might have done some petty vandalism or retardedness when you were kids yourselves I would imagine. All in all, your property value has remained the same because you don't have a crackhouse on every corner or a garden apartment complex thats infested with drugs and armed goons going buck wild every night. Police aren't engaging in ongoing gun battles with rival gangs like you have in Chicago or DC.
I have no sympathy for anyone who calls any portion of Calvert County "Hood." There might be a slight attempt at it, but there is no way that its anything like Trinidad, Berry Farms, Seat Pleasant, Simple City, Oxon Hill, etc.
To be frank if there is problems solve them. Don't be that "person" who calls the cops because the kids are "skateboarding" or "playing basketball." Theres people wearing hoodies and baggy clothing walking down the street in the evening, talking loudly. People make stupid calls like that all the time, and to be honest, THANK GOD THEY ARE EXERCISING AND DOING THAT INSTEAD OF BREAKING INTO HOUSES or STEALING YOUR CAR! When I was a kid, someone used to call that I was "Skateboarding." The cops would come and take it away or tell us to F off. The most frustrating part was it was like Well, what is there really to do in Southern Maryland??? Crime begins where.......????
