So far it's only a watch but they expect to upgrade to a warning in time. Also they expect to extend the watch/warning to lower So.MD:

Me too, as the temperature is up to 100 and the heat index is 109. I bet the heat will fuel some serious t-storms similar to the Derecho we had a couple Fridays ago.

I saw more squash bugs this morning, so I got the spray and killed them and then harvested the last 2 squash that plant had before I went to work. At $5 a bottle for that spray, and 3 bottles used to battle the squash bugs, the 3 squash I ended up with are mighty pricey when you add in the cost of seeds, fertilizer, water, etc.
I think I'll need to sell off some of the pumpkins in the Fall to recoup some of my money <G>.

Generator won't do much for staying cool unless someone has the really big powerful ones, or the whole house types. Otherwise the generator can keep your food good in the fridge and give you a few lights.
Then again with enough ice and beer, we'll be cool right? I think a few sprinklers running for those on public water will keep folks cooler <G>.

I'm still  about that Derecho storm. I had family fly into Baltimore from Columbus that afternoon. At 4:45 his phone was blowing up with family and friends warning us about how bad this storm was and that it was headed directly toward us. We knew there were 70+ mile an hour winds and hail the size of golf balls.
How is it that we knew about this at 5, but the weathermen were surprised at 10:30 when it hit????? We spent 2 hours taking down 5 very large tents we had set up for the next day. Made sure everything was tied down and secured. Kept a close watch on the radar the entire time. Finished up and still had time to sit back and wait for it to hit. :buddies:

We're in the same situation. Been very lucky as far as outages go. My power feed is "up stream" from the school I live near. If I don't have power, the school doesn't have power. So, my line tends to be high priority on the to-be-fixed list.

most of the time... but the true fact is it sounds like you are off of a main feeder ... so that is the main priority .. is getting the main line on.. you luck out from being so close.. and off that part of if.
I come right out of the sub and less than a 1/4 mile it goes underground...

the longest i ever have lost power has been 3-4 hours ..and thats when someone hit the underground device. Other than that time... may have lost it 3 other times... all less than an hour tops. :buddies: So 4 times in 6 years.... :coffee: not bad.

most of the time... but the true fact is it sounds like you are off of a main feeder ... so that is the main priority .. is getting the main line on.. you luck out from being so close.. and off that part of if.
I come right out of the sub and less than a 1/4 mile it goes underground...
Well, what ever the case might be, I've been in this house since 2006 and my total time without power is less than four hours. I have nieghbors on my street who have lost power for days within the last year. They're not üp stream"from the school."So, that is what makes the difference for me.

I too was surprised when all that thunderstorm activity started going NE. Then there was the last big blob I saw that WAS heading East right for us, but I went to bed. So seeing the dry ground this morning I assume it veered North and missed us. Wow is all I can say. I was sure we were gonna get something.
I know the horses are probably ticked at me for keeping them in last night. Now watch, I'll leave them out tonight and they'll get soaked. As long as they don't get struck by lightening I'm okay with it.

It has rained here almost every day for the last 2 months. I am enjoying a rain free day. Not that we don't need it, but there are days when I do have to mow the grass from all the rain. This time last year every lawn in the neighborhood was brown due to watering regulations and no rain, now we all have very green grass and have to mow twice a week. I don't mind the mowing since I have a riding mower, it's the weed eater I can't stand.

Sure hope it survives that hot summer you guys are having. I have a cactus my neighbor gave me. I replanted it in May and it is absolutely thriving.
Me, too. Would be sad to lose it. We had some rain last night and it made no difference today.

Rain here just makes it like a sauna.

Still muggy here. It was 96* when I dropped the girl off at 715.
