Looking for a good, but easy, margarita on the rocks recipe. I've heard of using "Simply Limeade" -- has anyone every tried that? TIA!

Margarita
Recipe courtesy Alton Brown, 2009

Prep Time:5 minInactive Prep Time: -- Cook Time: --
Level:
Easy
Serves:
1 cocktail

Ingredients
2 ounces 100 percent agave silver/blanco tequila, divided
1 tablespoon kosher salt
4 limes, divided
1/2 small Hamlin or Valencia orange
2 tablespoons light agave nectar
3/4 cup ice cubes, about 3 to 4

Directions
Pour 1/2-ounce of the tequila into a small saucer. Spread the kosher salt in a separate small saucer. Dip the rim of a martini or other wide rimmed glass into the tequila. Lift out of the tequila and hold upside down for 10 seconds to allow for slight evaporation. Next, dip the glass into the salt to coat the rim. Set aside.

Halve 2 of the limes, cut a thin slice for garnish from 1, and set aside. Juice the halved limes into the bottom of a Boston-style cocktail shaker. Cut the remaining 2 limes and the orange into quarters and add them to the juice in the shaker. Add the agave nectar to and muddle for 2 minutes until the juices are release. Strain the juice mixture through a cocktail strainer into the top of the shaker and discard the solids.

Return the juice to the bottom of the shaker, add the remaining 1 1/2 ounces of tequila and any remaining on the saucer. Add the ice to the shaker, cover and shake for 30 seconds. Strain the mixture through a cocktail strainer into the prepared glass, garnish with reserved lime slice, and serve immediately.

2 oz tequila, 1 oz triple sec, top with sour mix and a dash of rose's lime juice...or put OJ instead of lime juice depending on your taste

If you want easy, just pick up a bottle of Jose Cuervo Margarita mix, some tequila, a lime & some salt.

I have a frozen recipe if you would like it. You mix it up in a huge bucket and keep it in the freezer - it lasts all summer.

If anyone out there does not like tequila (I'm one) or would like to experiment, here's a frozen drink with a Viking twist. Mead is a wine made from honey. I've been making it since 1983. Chaucer's is a commercially available mead that will work for this. I like Smirnoff vodka, good old Number 57.

Ragnarokarita

Yields about (8) 8 oz servings

Ingredients: 3 c sweet mead (12 - 13% ABV), 3 T mulling spices in steeping bag (reusable cloth teabag), 2 c tart lemonade - chilled (substitute 1/2 c frozen concentrate, 2 T lemon juice and 2 1/2 c chilled water), 1 c vodka (100 proof) - kept in the freezer, 2 c ice, 1 med lime cut into 8 wedges

Procedure: Heat the mead to a slow boil, turn heat to low, add the spice, let steep for 10 minutes, remove from heat; let the spiced mead cool, remove the spice bags, pour the cooled mead into a blender, add the lemonade, vodka and ice, blend at ice-crushing speed, serve with lime wedges as a garnish

:yeahthat:

This is the one we use, with the rose's lime juice. Very tasty.
