Started researching the problem today.. TV would be ok for awhile than flicker (i called it fluttering) almost like a strobe light.

Googled (HAVE to love Google) it and at Answers.com they said remove/replace power control board, not a bad idea, not a difficult replacement, and the part was only about $80, though everyone seemed to be out of stock, so continued my search.

A few minutes later stumbled on a thread, same problem guy took it into a shop, repairman took off the back cut something, put the back back on, $200...

Come to find out this is a frequent problem, and there is a service repair bulletin out about it.

Remove 17 screws from the back of the TV, lift off the back of the TV (all of 45 seconds once you get the TV down) and cut a single jumper wire on the power control board (all of 10 seconds), replace the back and screws, walla, no more Flicka...

All of 10 minutes of our time, and probably saved >$200... Or getting ripped.off for more than that...

I don't know the "class" myself, but my model number is LN46C630, What I'm seeing is the first two letters would be the "class"?
Samsung says it effects all sizes in this class.. but the jumper wire number is different model to model, but the location is the same.

Same problem on mine, but I had Black Tie protection. Got power circuit board and input circuit board replaced. 55" Samsung.

If its the same problem we had its a lot more than just noticeable, but here is the nest I could find.. there are sites with pictures too. Fixya.com is a good place to go check out.

Details on how I repaired my Samsung TV from the flicker problem. On the back of the TV remove 17 screws that holds the back panel on. Remove the panel and find the panel where you plug the power cord in. Now on the upper left corner look for a metal jumper labeled JP852 by the section labeled "COLD" and "Input Rating". Simply use wire cutters and cut this so it cannot be connected. Also,checkthe capacitors to see if any look "bulged". If they do look bulged you may need to replace them (just get a professional to do this part). My capacitors were good so after cutting the metal jumper i screwed everything back together and it was all fixed!

Not an issue here with the remote.. TV Input button works, volume and power...

Going through the DirecTV menu, settings, remote control, and following the step by step instructions worked like a champ.

I don't have the 46" or larger Samsung but I have two smaller Samsung LCDs and they both work just fine with the remotes. Have you tried to recode the remote to see if it would work with another set to make sure it is not just the remote?

The old box no issue, the new box won't let me program the remote for the TV..

Programmed it in the LR for the Samsung out there, and it works for the Samsung in the BR now..

Wait, people use remotes besides Harmony? I didn't realize:) Codes? I remember those, back before I was able to just select a model number from a drop down menu and have all the codes loaded.

The new Directv remotes boxes are JUST like that...

Looked it up, and the programming si almost as easy. I would still switch over for ease of use. Swapping from device to device looks to be a bit of a pain. With the Harmony, I simply press an activity, say "Watch a Movie", and the remote turns on the appropriate devices, Blu-Ray, TV, and receiver, sets the Play, RW, FF, and associated buttons to control the Blu-Ray instead of the DVR, sets volume to the reciever. All the buttons are automatically reconfigured by activity. And programming that is easy, its a GUI on the website.

1. Add devices by model number.

2. Select activity, then add devices used in that activity, select which device does what.

Hit "Watch TV", it sets channel to cable box, FF/RW 30 second skip, etc., all get set to DVR, vol to receiver. Select "Play Wii", and volume is set to TV, since it doesnt go through the reciever, and TV input changes to S-video.

Literally takes about 10-15 minutes to program a fairly complex setup. And it can control anything that uses IR, really. Had it set to control some fans we had with IR remotes:) Ceiling fans PCs, doesnt matter.
