Sorry, layn, the tea party folks may not have pretty vinyl wrapped buses like the one at the Wipinsinger school, or neat preprinted signs, but they are a valid group. Not racist, or bigoted, or any of the other things the MSM would have you think. Go on down, take some pictures, ask them some questions, see what you find, report it back.
I will ask that you ignore the obligatory La Rouche people. They do tend to gather at these things, but you will find that %99 of the tea party people will ignore them too.
I'm guessing you are afraid to go and puncture your preconceived notions of what a tea party gathering looks like. Your notions of hillbillies with many guns and few teeth, hanging black people in effigy and burning crosses while beating gays and lesbians with sticks is probably too deeply ingrained.

Why lol?
It is funny (lol) in a twisted way because the "Tea Party" is all but dead as a political entity.
It is dying - and the sooner the better.
It was based on ignorance, selfishness, bigotry, and nothing of value.
See the OP has an avatar which attempts to degrade our President of the USA, and that is what trash the Tea Party represents.
As such having a Tea Party outing in southern Maryland means that the last straws are calling on our own local idiots to congregate together, and that is a joke indeed.
They call themselves as Patriots - puke :barf:

No doubt you're basing all of this on first hand observation and experience, and not at all on the talking points of your party.

LOL!!!! I think we all are well enough informed about the Tea Party from witnessing their ulgliness and obstructionism over the last two years; in every possible attempt to discredit President Obama. The Tea Party will go down in history as a terrible joke at the expense of every American citizen!

JPC? Really, please give concrete examples. And what gives you the right to decide what a patriot is? Where is your contribution toward society that gives you the helm on that?
Steed? Ugliness? Examples, please. And here's a hint. Not giving the liberals everything they want isnt obstructionism. Funny, there were a lot of things the President couldnt get through Congress and the Senate even when his party held majorities. Were those Democrats being obstructionists? How About Harry Reid, whose Senate has refused the President many things? Obstructionists all?

How about these "values" as stated from the teaparty.org website?
1. Illegal aliens are here illegally.
2. Pro-domestic employment is indispensable.
3. A strong military is essential.
4. Special interests must be eliminated.
5. Gun ownership is sacred.
6. Government must be downsized.
7. The national budget must be balanced.
8. Deficit spending must end.
9. Bailout and stimulus plans are illegal.
10. Reducing personal income taxes is a must.
11. Reducing business income taxes is mandatory.
12. Political offices must be available to average citizens.
13. Intrusive government must be stopped.
14. English as our core language is required.
15. Traditional family values are encouraged.
**********************************
1 and 2 are not very bright.
3. Ok on that one
4. Is that all special interests except those that favor Tea Party candidates???
5. No it's not. Your kids, your family, your friends, your religion...those may be sacred...gun ownership is not sacred. It is a right.
6-11 clearly exhibit the intellectual ignorance of the "movement"...this is where the real problems lie.
12. who defines "average"?
13. who defines "intrusive"?
14 -15 clearly bigoted ideals.
The Tea Party and it's opposite the Occupy Wall Street folks are at the root of this country's problems. We need less pissing. moaning, kicking and screaming from the fringes and much louder voices from the heavily overpopulated middle.

It is dying - and the sooner the better.
It was based on ignorance, selfishness, bigotry, and nothing of value. Can you give examples of the ignorance, selfishness, and bigotry that was displayed by the patriots?
See the OP has an avatar which attempts to degrade our President of the USA, and that is what trash the Tea Party represents.
As such having a Tea Party outing in southern Maryland means that the last straws are calling on our own local idiots to congregate together, and that is a joke indeed. Why do you speak poorly of a group that by your own words, invited you to attend with them?
They call themselves as Patriots - puke :barf:
I puke and barf everytime I see the false american acting like he is president.
As a patriot, I look forward to the day that he is rotting in a prison waiting for his execution for acts of treason against the United States.
I expect this all to come from legal means, with a federal judge finding his guilt.

1. Illegal aliens are here illegally. Agree, our population grows with legal immigration daily.
2. Pro-domestic employment is indispensable. Agreed. Working class makes a society function.
3. A strong military is essential. Absolutely agree.
4. Special interests must be eliminated. This means rules, regulations and laws will be based on reason rather than the highest bidder.... agreed!
5. Gun ownership is sacred. Agreed because we have the primary responsibility to protect ourselves, our loved ones and our property. The police force cannot be everywhere at once nor can they always be there in a timely fashion.
6. Government must be downsized. Amen! I cannot fathom how some expect something that must be paid for by private industry to become larger than private industry. If we all end up working for the government... that would be communism.
7. The national budget must be balanced. Common sense.
8. Deficit spending must end. Common sense.
9. Bailout and stimulus plans are illegal. Common sense.
10. Reducing personal income taxes is a must. Agreed. This can happen when we reduce the size of government and government spending.
11. Reducing business income taxes is mandatory. Agreed. Common sense.
12. Political offices must be available to average citizens. Agreed. Let us vote on what is best for our country rather than only have a selection of those with vast amounts of money.
13. Intrusive government must be stopped. Agreed. You can't outlaw stupidity no matter how hard you try.
14. English as our core language is required. Agreed.
15. Traditional family values are encouraged. I consider a functioning family unit to be vital to the upbringing of a child.
It all makes perfect sense to me.

kwillia, i agree with you though don't expect any liberal to do the same, and if you try to explain it to them with logic, their head will explode with overloaded facts. They just don't get it. I guess the OP on point 14 wants to change our core language to another one and doesn't understand the word illegal. As for JPC there is no hope, he will never understand anything.

How about these "values" as stated from the teaparty.org website?
From the Democratic Party's website:
Democrats have a long and proud history of defending Civil Rights and expanding opportunity for all Americans. From the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act in 2009, Democrats have fought to end discrimination in all forms—including discrimination based on race, sex, ethnicity or national origin, language, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or disability.
For too many though, this ideal is still far from a reality. That’s why in our fight to stand up for civil rights for all Americans, we are committed to protecting voting rights, enacting the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, ensuring civil unions and equal federal rights for LGBT couples and fully repealing the Defense of Marriage Act.
I have no problems with civil rights, but where was Obama at the NAACP rally? You know, the one they like to bash Romney about? The one that gave Romney a standing ovation?
Democrats share with all parents the commitment to prepare our children to lead lives of happiness and success. That’s why we’re dedicated to ensuring the next generation has access to a first-rate education and the tools to drive our economy forward.
In 2010, President Obama signed into law student loan reform that ended government subsidies to big banks and made college more affordable to millions of Americans—a measure in size and scope second only to the G.I. Bill. The Obama administration is working to overhaul the “No Child Left Behind” program and provide teachers with more professional support and resources—while also holding them accountable. President Obama instituted “Race to the Top,” a revolutionary program designed to promote innovation and provide incentives for improvement in education. As a result, already over a dozen states have made changes to increase standards and implement reforms.
That's funny. American's test scores are on a steady plateau, yet the price of college keeps rising. Let's just give eveyone a big pat on the back, and tell them they did a great job. That should prepare them for the REAL world. Of course, with a lackluster education system, comes no innovation. Lets not forget about the states BO said was exempt from "No Child Left Behind". Instead of them meeting goals, they fail, and he says "No problem, you guys can figure it out". "No Child Left Behind requires all students to be proficient in reading and math by 2014, who needs that anyway? If you want to give waivers, and make local school systems accountable, then do that, by all means, but DON'T overhaul a program that didn't work! How about the Federal Education Department? HUGE waste of money, and no real use.
President Obama knows we can’t just drill our way to lower gas prices or a quick-fix solution to our energy needs. That’s why he and Democrats are focused on developing all of America’s natural resources—domestic oil, gas, wind, solar and biofuels—and encouraging fuel efficiency so that we can reduce our dependence on foreign oil over time.
All those Billions of tax dollars to solar companys worked out real well huh? How about the Navy ship that runs on "Green" fuel at the low-low cost of $26/ gallon....of taxpayer money. Natural Gas is domestic, abundent, and cheap. Where's THAT innovation?
From protecting endangered species to restoring our ecosystems and investing in clean-energy solutions, the Obama administration and Democrats are committed to working to address our biggest environmental challenges.
Under the Obama administration, the Department of Transportation issued new fuel-economy standards, the first mandated increases in fuel economy for cars in decades. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has taken the first steps toward regulating carbon dioxide emissions from coal-fired power plants. For the first time, the U.S. will catalogue greenhouse gas emissions from large emission sources-—an important initial step toward measurable and transparent reductions.
All for cleaner air, but yet the Prius can't meet EPA mileage claims, and there are cars in Europe getting 60+ mpg.
In March 2010, President Obama fulfilled a promise that Democrats have pursued for nearly a century: making health care available to all Americans. Despite unanimous opposition from Republicans, Democrats were finally able to pass comprehensive health reform into law.
:killingme We all know about this tax, that isn't a tax, but is a tax.
America has a long and rich heritage of immigration. Democrats have always embraced our country’s diversity, but we also recognize that our current immigration system is broken.
I'm sure the 1 million illegals he granted amnesty love this! Gotta keep the voter base around I guess. Could be why they have such a hard time agreeing that an ID should be required to vote.
President Obama inherited an economy in free fall, with huge deficits, skyrocketing health care costs, dwindling employment, and banking and housing markets on the brink of collapse. Working with the President, Democrats stabilized the financial system and helped to prevent a second Great Depression. An economy that was losing 700,000 jobs a month is now gaining jobs. We still have a long way to go, but we are now moving forward on the road to recovery.
"Woe is me" is what I keep hearing. Let's not make fun of him too much guys, he's only the leader of the free world, and can't even suck it up and admit that he screwed up any and all job creation efforts since being in office. Not one budget passed to date, how many times have you heard "Don't look to much into the numbers", or "The private sector is doing just fine".
As the threats facing our country have evolved over the years, so too has our ability to respond to them. Our national security personnel are the most dynamic and well-trained in the world, and we must never forget the solemn duty that they fulfill for our nation. Democrats are committed to ensuring that our troops have the training, equipment, and support that they need when they are deployed and the care that they and their families need and deserve when they return home.
"When" they are deployed? Let's keep policing the world...it's been working out so far.
For Democrats, changing politics in Washington means ensuring that government is open, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the people. President Obama has implemented the most sweeping ethics and transparency requirements in history, building on steps taken by Democrats to limit the influence of special interests and ensure that government is accountable to the people.
This entire paragraph deserves: :killingme:killingme:killingme:killingme:killingme
Transparency my a$$. This administration is about as clear as mud.
America has a rich history of technological innovation and scientific ingenuity. But after years of declining tests scores in math and science and a Republican administration that often turned its back on science, the United States risks losing its scientific dominance. Democrats are committed to reversing this trend by investing in the technologies and jobs of the future while increasing support for more advanced research, labs, and classrooms.
So you shut down NASA? Even when open, they got about $0.01 per dollar of taxpayer money, and constantly was making strides in the scientific world. Now what do we have? United States ranks 27th out of 29 wealthy countries in the proportion of college students with degrees in science or engineering, while the World Economic Forum ranked this country 48th out of 133 developed and developing nations in quality of math and science instruction. Hardly something to brag about.
In 1935, Democrats and President Franklin Roosevelt created Social Security. In 1965, Democrats and President Lyndon Johnson created Medicare. Ever since, Democrats have continually fought to defend these cornerstones of the American Dream in the face of attempts to dismantle or undermine both.
Social Security? What Social Security...Medicare? What a miserable failure, just like every other government run program (other than our military).
Democrats have a long and proud history of fighting for voting rights that continues to this day. One of the most important rights of American citizens is the right to vote—the right to have a say in who our leaders are and how our government should work. But the path to full voting rights for all American citizens was long and often challenging, and for far too many people, obstacles to voting remain even today.
Goes back to needing ID. Why shouldn't American citizens, who are voting for American offices, not be required to prove they are American citizens? You need your Id for most everything else, but not to vote?

#1 & #2 are pointing out the obvious
#3 we agree
#4 All of them
#5 Depends on your definition of sacred, mine doesn't even include family
#6 The constitution spells out the role of the Federal government. Quite a lot of what the Feds do rightfully are state functions
#7 Balance is the purpose of a budget.
#8 I think you're disagreeing with this just to be difficult
#9 Prior to being passed they really were illegal, laws were passed to allow it.
#10 The Feds will accept any money you feel like sending them, don't expect the rest of us to want to participate in your social folly though.
#11 Time and again this has proven to provide more stimulus to the economy than just about anything
#12 & #13 you haven't really answered, just deflected and hoped no one would notice
#14 If you don't know conversational English you start two steps back with your foot in a bucket, don't expect to prosper.
#15 Do you know the definition of encouraged?

To quote the great Simpsons episode "Aliens Run for President":
"The politics of failure have failed; we need to make them work again."
and
"It does not matter which way you vote. You're planet is doomed, doomed, DOOMED!"
Anyway, here's my view on the Tea Party:
Tea Party = Green Party = Irrelevant

I would venture to say the Tea Party has elected gotten more people elected than the Green Party. I could be wrong, though. Heck, the simple fact that the MSM spent so much time trying to marginalize them speaks volumes about how dangerous they were viewed as being.

I'm not quite sure how having an avatar of a picture of our president using a gesture he has used frequiently makes the Tea Party "trash". I'm not a member of the Tea Party, nor do I speak for them or represent them. I merely passed on some information I got in an email. You have made several leaps in assumptions that are baseless and ill-informed.
I also get emails about upcoming events with Steny Hoyer, and if I ever got one that said he was speaking pubicly in our area, I'd pass that on too. I think he held a town hall a couple of years ago in the area.
As for whoever was comparing the Tea Party to the Occupy movement, I challenge you to show me evidence of rapes, police car defacing or even littering at any Tea Party Rally.

Ah, the sweet smell of setting concrete:) In other words, you have nothing.
ACD, he did in fact have one a couple years back. For the health care debate. Was pretty funny. they bussed in a bunch of union types, with cool preprinted signs, and colored T-shirts for easy identification. then, instead of going right into the Q/A, like you might expect of a town hall meeting, the crowd was expected to sit through 40 minutes of speeches by a bunch of pro-health care reform types.

While I would agree that the language sacred is a bit strong, it is the same argument you are making in a number of your responses. Who decides average, or intrusive. If gun ownership is sacred to this group than it is sacred to this group.
The only question, no so much a problem with the values is what do they mean by English should be the core language. English already is the core language of our country.

I think they mean that outside of places where you could reasonably expect to need a second language, say an emergency room, or a classroom, or places with high tourist counts, say the Metro, all business should be conducted in English. If you want to function as anything other than as a tourist, get with the English language.
MVA business should be in English, for instance.

I've never gone to an MVA or any other public institution where I haven't been able to speak with someone who speaks English.
As far as printing forms in another language, I understand there is a cost there, but we are a welcoming country. People coming here might need help. If we are going to close our boarders then do so and there will be no need to print in any other language.
I do see a lot of people who have this view as prejudice. So often on these forums, people make the assumption that Hispanic people are here illegally based soley on them being Hispanic.
I have a family member who's spouse immigrated here from Mexico. She did nothing wrong to get here, she is here legally and is now an American citizen. She is hard working and productive, and intelligent, but since she has a heavy Spanish accent she is constantly faced with prejudice. I have been witness to people telling her to get out of "their" country.

Ah, layn, great use of facts and logic there, good work. I'll get your nomination for the debate team captain in the mail.
Tom, I get the welcoming thing, and have no problems with helping people. I just think we overdo it sometimes. It should not be effortless to get along, you should not be able to conduct every piece of state business in a language that is not English. That takes it a too far, IMHO. If Lowes wants to spend extra to double label it's aisles, no big deal to me.

I'd agree there should be limits and agree that English should be the core. I don't think our opinion is far off, as I (and my sister-in-law) would agree that after a period of time you should learn the common language of the land. Some people need time to aquaint themselves and having a drivers license is a needed tool in our society to make your way.

Most of the Tea Party are working Americans who don't have time to lay around all day biatching about the sh!t they don't have or deserve. We put a Congress in place that replaced most of the buffoons in Congress and put the brakes on outrageous unsustainable spending.
The Tea party didn't go away, you'll see the members again come November, unlike left leaning liberal progressive rhetoric, we don't need to keep throwing in your faces whats about to happen to your dear leader and the Democrat control of the Senate come November.
We'll show you with a cleaning of House bigger than 2010. You couldn't stop us than and you damn sure won't stop us now, the snakes head is coming off this time liberals so please keep your seat-backs and tray tables in the upright position and enjoy the ride!!! :buddies:

I really do hope that you and everyone here who likes that group goes to its meeting.
I want everyone one of you to get exactly what you ask for.
Like a bunch of pigs wallowing in the same sty (http://teapartyorg.ning.com/profiles/blogs/the-fruit-of-wallowing-in-pig-poo?xg_source=activity).
Hopefully when our President Obama is reelected to another 4 years - that we take back control of the House of Representatives too.

Wow such hatred! What exactly is ignorant and bigoted about wanting full employment, less government intrusion in our lives and lower taxes??? I didn't notice any tea party supporters or anyone with an opposing view on here calling anyone names. So juvenile.....but, that's usually what happens when you can't debate the issues intelligently or back up your arguments with FACTS. I feel sorry for you.

Any of you liberals want to meet me there? We can stand on the outskirts, take pictures, discuss the hatred or lack thereof. Promise I wont out you, we will be like mice along the wall. This is a real offer. Then we can post about what we really saw, and folks can draw opinions based on firsthand reporting.

Let me break it down. I'm starting to get fairly fluent in flushJP-to-english translation.
- full employment: in Jimmy's world, nobody who doesn't want to should have to work. Included in (but not limited to) that population: alpha males and the whites who suck up to them.
- less government intrusion in our lives: in Jimmy's world, big brother, like big daddy, is a good thing. You know, like that song: ...from whom all blessings flow....
- lower taxes: in Jimmy's world, people like him don't work, and therefore don't pay taxes. For them, a 95% rate sounds about right. More taxes = more free stuff for democratic voters.
See? You, too, can become literate in "Jimmy" speak Think of it as Anglicized Jive.
