Rahm Emanuel Pledges To Ban Chick-Fil-A From Chicago (http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/07/25/Rahm-Emanuel-latest-to-fight-Chick-Fil-A)
The unemployment rate in the city of Chicago is approximately 9.8 percent, well above the national average. Since Monday night, one 17-year-old boy has been shot and 13 others have been wounded in shootings across the city. And that’s just the most recent wave of shootings to plague the city – dozens more have been shot over the last few weeks.
And Mayor Rahm Emanuel is taking action: he’s banning Chick-Fil-A.
The fast-food chicken restaurant has come under increasing fire from major Democratic politicians including Emanuel and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, both of whom have pledged to keep the dreaded chain from poisoning the minds of their constituents. Said Emanuel: “They disrespect our fellow neighbors and residents. This would be a bad investment, since it would be empty.”
What exactly did Chick-Fil-A do to “disrespect” its neighbors? The president of the company, Dan Cathy, gave an interview in which he stated, “We don’t claim to be a Christian business … [Christianity] is about a personal relationship. Companies are not lost or saved, but certainly individuals are. But as an organization we can operate on biblical principles. So that is what we claim to be.” And he added with regard to the company’s support of WinShape Foundation, “That morphed into a marriage program in conjunction with national marriage ministries.” Does the company support the traditional family? Said Cathy, “guilty as charged … We are very much supportive of the family – the biblical definition of the family unit ….”

By what means can a mayor legally prevent a business from opening up shop in their city?
But let's take this a bit further. Let's say a conservative mayor of a city decides he doesn't like the policies of an otherwise legal operating business that is trying to open up in his city. For purposes of this discussion let's say Papa Johns Pizza, which has an founder that has pro gun control stance. Could a mayor that is a 2nd Amendment supporter somehow prevent Papa John's Pizza from opening up in his city based solely on the issue of gun control?

Dan Savage, founder of the Obama-endorsed It Gets Better anti-bullying campaign, has already taken to Twitter to try to define the term “Chick-Fil-A” as a form of anal sex – just as he did with Rick Warren and Rick Santorum when they failed to endorse same-sex marriage.
and isnt this the same jackass who yelled at kids he was supposed to be teaching? I love how the "everyone deserves a voice" crowd hates it when folks try to voice opposition to a thing the crowd endorses. Free speech? Only for hippies and union members.

Geeze, would you guys stop already with the demonization of "hippies" and "union members"! Denigrating & classifying people by groups gets us nowhere! I'm a union member because it gets me liability insurance and some small means of protection in case I run into azz hole authoritarian Principal who decides they don't me, my hair, my teaching style, or the color of my skin ( and oh yes, those kinds of people are out there). In some ways I could be considered a hippie, too. That has nothing to do with my constitutional rights and privileges, or my politics.
Playing the game the same way as the other guys do with name-calling and demonization gets us nowhere.
Rahm is an ass, we knew that, and that's all there is to it. Let him focus on stupid gestures like this. Let him anger all of the ministers (sometimes the only chance of hope for inner city kids). Let him orchestrate his own doom.
Next time, just say "liberals"!

Sorry, but having seen union members shouting down voices they didn't agree with, I wont stop that. That behavior is not how it's supposed to be done. They buy politicians, and while protecting you against tyrannical management, also protect the worthless ones who cannot teach. Every good they do seems to bring two bads.
Hippies? Dont get me wrong, I am a big fan of peace, and getting along with your fellow man, and compassion. But now the game is played to legally force those things, and forced compassion is a scary thing. You can take "there outta be a law" too far. Thats what I mean by hippies, the ones who have coopted the name and morphed it into a force to compel goodness.
I don't give a rats butt about gay marriage, but saying someone cannot speak their mind, or the government will punish them, that's pretty far out there.
