Kid's Hot Dog Stand Shut Down by City Officials Before It Even Opens (http://reason.com/blog/2012/07/26/city-shuts-down-kids-hot-dog-stand-befor)

This summer, 13-year-old Nathan Duszynski wanted to make some money to help out his disabled parents—his mom has epilepsy and his dad has multiple sclerosis. So he decided to open a hot dog stand. He saved $1,200, mostly money made by mowing lawns and shoveling snow. He checked with the city to make sure he didn't need any licenses or permits, even going to city hall in person with his mom. And then he bought a cart. (Yep, that's hot dogs from Nathan's, for those who are keeping score at home.)

He arrived to set up shop on his first day and 10 minutes later, a zoning official arrived to shut him down. The problem: The cart, which is in the parking lot of a sporting goods store, is on the edge of official downtown commercial district of Holland, Michigan. The city bans food carts in that area in order to minimize competition for the eight tax-paying restaurants a couple of blocks away.

it is always about the Gov. getting $$$$

Oh, the stories I could tell about things like this.

You would have thought that whoever issued him the permit would have given him information about where he could & could not set up.

And, Calvert County Health Department has been known to shut down lemonade stands run by little kids. I kid you not!

It's not their fault. But really, who is going to say, "Gee, I was going to have dinner at this wonderful Thai restaurant, but I think I'll have a hotdog instead"? Nobody, that's who. His likely customer is someone who wants to grab a quick bite, just like with most food trucks.

Stupid.

You have zero reading comprehension, don't you. He complied with all health rules and laws. He was shut down due to ZONING. He was shut down because of TAXES.

Why are you liberals so damn stupid?

No, you need to go back to the beginning and read through, or have your tutor help you to understand the words that he typed. It's so simple.

Go back and read it all again because quite obviously, you missed it! Just to help you out, I quoted the original, complete with emphasis, and then did the same emphasis on MMDad's post so you could COMPARE (a reading comprehension skill).
Epic FAIL.

Other readers of this thread, please note that it is a common propaganda technique to resort to personal attacks when one has nothing to stand on. There was no defense to the comments, so the poster resorted to name-calling.

Sad. Just sad. If you want to engage in a discussion, be prepared to discuss. Otherwise, don't waste our time.

Ah, but if I did that, who would point out the flaws in logic and the propaganda techniques being used so other readers would have access to correct information?

Besides, correcting this kind of juvenile style of writing is sort of second nature for me. :lmao:
