Chick-fil-A hit by "kiss-in" protests in gay marriage flap (http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/08/03/us-usa-gaymarriage-chickfila-idUSBRE8720XP20120803)

(Reuters) - Gay rights activists and backers of same-sex marriage held "kiss-ins" at Chick-fil-A restaurants across the United States on Friday to protest the fast-food chain president's opposition to homosexual unions.

Same Sex Kiss Day is a reaction to comments last month from Dan Cathy, who said he supported "the biblical definition of the family unit" and put his chain of roughly 1,600 restaurants smack in the middle of a cultural debate.

Carly McGehee, a Dallas political activist who came up with the idea of the kiss-in, said more than 15,000 people said they would join the protest since she posted an announcement on her Facebook page on July 19.

Cathy's company "is continuously supporting hate and bigotry and intolerance," said McGehee, 24.

Chick-fil-A 'kiss' day marred by 'Tastes like hate' graffiti (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2012/08/chick-fil-a-kiss-hate-graffiti-vandalized.html)

On a day that some gay-rights activists are planning a "National Same-Sex Kiss Day," a Chick-fil-A in Torrance was vandalized overnight with hateful graffiti.

Chick-fil-A employees were greeted Fridays morning with the words "Tastes like hate" scrawled in large black lettering mimicking the chain's advertising across the back wall of the restaurant at 182nd Street and Hawthorne Boulevard in Torrance.

With media helicopters hovering overhead and police officers on the scene, one employee said, "I'm just trying to sort everything out."

Chick-fil-A has been at the center of media scrutiny and public debate ever since the company's president publicly expressed his opposition to same-sex marriage.

On Friday, some gay-rights activists are encouraging same-sex couples to go one of the chicken restaurant's locations and take a photo or video of themselves kissing.

It remains unclear whether this protest will generate the huge crowds that turned out Wednesday for "Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day," when tens of thousands waited through long lines in a show of support for the executive.

‘Tastes Like Hate’: Torrance Chick-Fil-A Vandalized Ahead Of ‘Same Sex Kiss Day’ (http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2012/08/03/tastes-like-hate-torrance-chick-fil-a-vandalized-ahead-of-same-sex-kiss-day/)

TORRANCE (CBS) — The store manager of a Chick-fil-A in Torrance says the restaurant was targeted by vandals overnight.

KNX 1070′s John Brooks reports a message that read “Tastes Like Hate” with a painting of a cow was discovered early Friday morning at the store located at 18200 Hawthorne Boulevard.

Workers quickly painted over the graffiti as Torrance police officers were called out to the scene sometime around 6:40 a.m., according to police.

Franchise owner Cole Donahoo said they never talk about politics, marriage or religion at the restaurant — they just serve food to anyone who comes in.

“We just don’t even discuss that here at the workplace,” said Donahoo. “Our goal is to serve great food with courteous service in a clean, hospitable environment.”

14,000 people joined the kiss-in Facebook event. Sounds impressive... except for the part where 671,000 joined Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day.

Media swoons over pitiful Chick-fil-A ‘kiss in,’ sweeps appreciation day success under lapdog rug; Update: Media using misleading photos (http://twitchy.com/2012/08/03/media-swoons-over-pitiful-chick-fil-a-kiss-in-sweeps-appreciation-day-success-under-lapdog-rug/?utm_source=autotweet&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=twitter)

Ha! But, that’s not completely accurate. As Twitchy reported, the media did make some mention of Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day. Not to report on its epic success, of course. They only made mention in order to label it a “day of intolerance.” See, as always, it is a case of “tolerance” for thee, but not for me. Tolerance tyrants, including those in the media, think tolerance is a one-way street. Submit … or else.

Further, they are willfully refusing to understand the basic concept of the support for Chick-fil-A. It’s not about gay people. It is about free speech, individual liberties and standing up to bullies.

I have to admit, I thought the turnout on Friday would be a lot bigger. I honestly thought in at least a few parts of the country, at least ONE CFA would have been overrun. I can't find even one.

Most of the pics and articles I can find on the Web and the news show one or two couples, and that's it.

Now, I support gay marriage, and I think at least one thing failed here - and that's that there aren't nearly as many gay people in the country as gays would like to believe. "1 in 10" has *long* been disproved, and every statistical survey I've found shows it to be a lot less. Moreover, the point would have been for same-sex couples to kiss - and that was dumb, because they have heterosexual supporters, and having them show up to kiss would have been pointless.

I think someone didn't realize a lot more people LIKE Chik-Fil-A than want to go to one to kiss their partner in public. Not everyone who agrees with you is willing to take part in a protest - or can take time off from work to say so.

This proves what we've been saying for a very long time. The true queers are a sliver of a percent of the American citizenry. They make a lot of noise and they get a lot of non-gay supporters, but the actual number is not enough to get all spun up about.

If that was the reasoning that is used we would have never changed any laws regarding any minorities. Besides, I don't think that you can estimate the percentage of gays by he number that show up to CFA for a "counter protest". I would be willing to bet a lot of gay people think it is stupid to go to CFA and give them any more publicity. Also, being gay, particularly for men, still has a stigma associated with it, and I would be willing to bet a lot of gays don't care enough about CFA to out themselves to their neighbors, family, and coworkers over this issue.

We will see how people in Maryland feel about same sex marriage in November.

No

The CEO said that as a Christian, he supports the traditional view of marriage.

Apparently it was a big surprise that the CEO of a company that closes their restaurants on Sundays so employees can attend church would have traditional Christian values

Does not really matter, even if the decent moral people win on the fake marriage, some homo judge from Montgomery county will rush in and determine that the peoples will is against the constitution, even though he will not be able to actually show in the constitution where it is someones right to hump anything that moves.

So, fear not butt pirates, you will get your way,,, one way or the other.

but based on the support that Chick-Fil-A had, it just might be a harder fight than even I imagined.

besides, Im more interested in stopping the nasty illegals from getting in state rates at our colleges.
