Gay Activists Planning Starbucks Appreciation Day To Counter Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day (http://www.mediaite.com/online/gay-activists-planning-starbucks-appreciation-day-to-counter-chick-fil-a-appreciation-day/)

You thought this whole “public support for companies based on their position on gay marriage” thing was over, didn’t you? Well, unfortunately for you, gay activists are organizing another event in addition to last week’s Chick-fil-A kiss in, an event held in response to Mike Huckabee‘s “Fried Chicken Freedom (a.k.a. Chick-fil-A Appreciation) Day.” The event is going to be held tomorrow, and it will be a similar show of appreciation for Starbucks over its company’s support of gay marriage.

Technically speaking, the Facebook event is now called National Marriage Equality Day, which is organized for tomorrow, but was called “National Starbucks Appreciation Day” before the Facebook page creator made it clear that Starbucks was not personally involved in the protest and decided to expand the day of support to other companies that support gay marriage.

Nothing like diluting the target to avoid the eventual flop this will turn out to be. There's a Starbucks every other street corner so how can there be the photographic impact necessary to crow about this?

Why do gay people spend so much time trying to convince people that they enjoy being gay? Straight people enjoy being straight, but they just go about their business.

I am sure GBLT will gather, 40 ahem people, in SF and NYC, angle the camera, so it looks like 100's

I have a Starbucks right by my office. It's usually pretty a good source of eye-candy on warm days.

I don't usually buy anything from Starbucks, because I'm not a big fan of paying $8.00 for something I can get at 7-11 for a buck fiddy. But I may make an exception and grab me a cafe grande (or whatever the equivalent to a large coffee is) and hang out and watch the show, assuming there is one.

Either way, I'm sure there'll be plenty of short-shorts and tanktops, so it'll probably be worth the effort, even if nothing noteworthy happens.

If as many people boycott starbutts as showed up for CFA, it will be very hard for those 40 glbt's to support starbucks until they close up. I doubt that most people will stop supporting starbutts though...

So do you, but we don't want to hear about it.

It would be funny if SB lost so much money because of it. Like do you really want to go to Starbucks tomorrow? Guess a Mikey D coffee might just do the job and for a less snobby price - plus there is free internet service there too.

I have seen small kids act these tantrums out better than the GLT groups have.

:yay: There are just some things I can do without, and starbutts is one of them. I tried their coffee one time back in the mid 1990's and it was :barf: I haven't gone back since. If people really want to, they can do without it.

That's somewhat interesting.

I, personally, wouldn't want to be involved, but it would be fun to watch.

And I thought Furries were weird.

I don't drink coffee so I don't ever do business with SB. They do support the right to Concealed Carry in the States that permit it, so because of that I throw them my verbal support. Plus, my wife likes SB coffee.

Starbucks coffee sux... lol... The only time it ever tasted good to me was when I was staying at my aunts in Scotland... I swear they were the only coffee shops in all of Edinburgh... I can't drink tea in the morning... I need coffee... Scots family drinks tea...

the freaking gay activists still don't get it... For me anyway, it wasn't about them... It was about elected government officials threatening a private corporation because of their beliefs... I'm not going to throw my kindle away because of where Bezos spends his money... I'm not going to stop buying Elton John's music because he's a ######... If I boycotted every business I disagree with the way they spend their money? I'd have a basement full of cash and zero belongings!

I might hit an SB if there's not a Dunkin within three states.......only option out in Seattle, for instance, but large, extra, extra, that's about as complex as my coffee order needs to be. But if I did frequent SB, would I boycott them for supporting this?, I would still go, they can support who they want, and barring a NAMBLA endorsement, I am not worried about it. I will note, that SB is not endorsing or supporting this, according to the article, they are just the only national coffee shop the GBLT crowd identifies with. Maybe woulda been better to choose Ben & Jerrys?
