CNN Fans Flames of Racism in Election Coverage (http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism/2012/08/06/Once-Again-CNN-Fans-Flames-of-Racism-in-Election-Coverage)

During a segment of CNN's Starting Point with Zoraida Sambolin, that old corpse of Jim Crow-like racism was once again raised like a zombie from the grave. Sambolin speculated that voter ID laws are "reigniting some of these old prejudices" because they are "an effort to suppress the minority vote." Host Zoraida Sambolin set the tone of racism for the segment right at the top by introducing the left's wiled-eyed claims that voter ID laws are just an excuse to suppress minorities.

Sambolin: With America's first black president up for re-election this November, the conversation about voting rights has been reignited. Thirty states are currently enforcing some form of voter ID law which many civil rights advocates say is an effort to suppress the minority vote.

Later she asked the panel, "Do you think that having an African American president is actually reigniting some of these old prejudices?" Naturally, CNN's Sambolin is merely parroting the extreme left's rhetoric about voter ID laws because as it turns out, as recently as last April, it was found that 70% of Americans agree that voter ID laws are a good idea.

I simply cannot get that the idea that requiring ID somehow discriminates against minorities. I was just up at vital records in Baltimore - and I was just about the only white person there. They were all there for one thing - to clear up or to secure copies of documents for identity, such as birth certificates (among other things). When I did tax returns for H&R Block, I did tons of returns for people receiving EIC benefits from their returns - they had absolutely no problem furnishing proof, including SSN's for their dependents.

And the refrain is "minority", not "poor", "elderly" or "disadvantaged". The days long ago when blacks were turned away from voting booths were because they were black, no matter what their financial status or educational advancement. So who do they think will be disenfranchised? A Latino neurosurgeon? A black college professor? Just who doesn't have ID?

*KIDS* have ID to get liquor (albeit fake ID). Elderly show ID to get prescriptions (ok, we've been over this - sometimes). You need ID to cash checks and in some places, they still want them even to use credit cards.

It is popular among Americans, in general, regardless of political leaning.

Democrats maintain an idea which has been massively discredited, and that is that voter fraud is either miniscule or non-existent, and that the number of fake votes is much smaller than the amount of people who will be disenfranchised, although I have no idea how they can arrive at that number. We already have data on hand that in the close Senate election in Minnesota, they found more *registered* voters in some districts than they had *eligible* voters living there. In an election decided by a few hundred votes, a few THOUSAND voters should not have existed at all.

It happens. We all know it. I can't believe that in a time when elections are so important, we shouldn't make every effort imaginable to make sure they are done honestly and fairly - because if they aren't, YOU are disenfranchised. If someone can tilt an election however they please, YOUR vote means nothing.

There frankly can be only one rational reason to keep the "honor system" in place in a system shown to be riddled with tampering - and that is to protect those who cheat.

This ought to be a goal both parties aim for, but one side has openly embraced the side that favors cheating. That SHOULD be an embarrassment.

Forgot this one:

From The Breakfast Club:

Andrew (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000389/): What do you need a fake I.D. for?
Brian (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001309/): So I can vote.

Sambolin speculated that voter ID laws are "reigniting some of these old prejudices" because they are "an effort to suppress the minority vote." They're not worried about the minority vote, they're, obviously, worried about the illegal minority vote. They must feel their elected dictator needs all the illegal votes he can get to win a second term. I show my ID in Maryland when I go vote. If you're in the country legally, it shouldn't be a real problem to show ID.
