"CHARLOTTE — Mitt Romney requested “several” years of tax returns from his potential running mates, a senior adviser to the candidate said Saturday, suggesting that those considered for the ticket may have been required to reveal more financial documents that the candidate himself.

In a briefing with reporters in Virginia Saturday, senior adviser Beth Myers, who was charged with headed the vice president selection process, declined to specify exactly how many years of tax returns were required, saying only that “several” were requested.

Several, by definition, implies more than two years.

Tim Pawlenty told George Stephanopoulos on “This Week” this morning that he gave “several” years of tax returns to Mitt Romney during the vice presidential vetting process. Pawlenty said he didn’t remember the exact number of years. He later said he gave Romney a “bunch” of tax returns.

When pressed about what “several” meant, Pawlenty said “We don’t get into the details of the vetting process.”

Romney, who has been under intense pressure to release more of his own tax returns by both Democrats and members of his own party, has so far released his 2010 returns and an estimate for his 2011 returns. "

I find this more laugable.

Media outlets touting that Ryan has no corporate experience and/or too little Congressional experience for the VP pick. Yet, Obama had none of one and much less of the other.

Mitt Romney's campaign raised $35 million more than President Obama for the month of June. Out of force of habit, Mitt stashed it all in the Cayman Islands.

Q: What is the population of the US of working age?

A. A LOT less than 300 million.

Q: Why don't the window lickers on the shortbus (like Mo) know what the population of the USA is?

A: Nobody knows why they are window lickers.

"right-wing ideologue" - multiple different interviews with different Democratic pundits, strategists, etc... today. That is the common theme. Within the first sentence or two, to explain Ryan, they incorporate the term. Look for massive repetition... :killingme

The bigger question: What is in those returns that a cellar-dwelling welfare recipient would/could find fault with..that the IRS didn't?

Where is the intelligent debate that I have been waiting for? Remember, I am a student in learning here (politics), but I get nothing from you; except that you are deaf and think all conservatives are rednecks. :frown: I want facts from you liberals on this forum. Show me the money! (that is a metaphor in case you didn't know) Is that too much to ask?

OK! This is what I was waiting for; a side of you that I have never seen; that you would actually elaborate. I didn't assume; I just saw what you have posted before. I respect the retirees/veterans whole heartedly that have served our country because they have seen the worst, so I respect their view; there is no greater sacrifice. I did grad from college but not in politics. I am a Repub, and want our founding values retained, no matter what. If you ever saw my earlier posts; I thought Obama was the one; being mixed, and would be the bridge for the mixed ethnicity that is America. I didn't vote for him, but I had hope. He is not the one; he truly is an egotistical, marxist, radical, in bed with Soros, evil guy, with no clue about how to be a POTUS. Not that Romney is great, but Obama is too shady. Glenn Beck is another story; he is also an egomaniac; good that Fox dropped him, but I am a next generation Rush Limbaugh person cuz of my dad. Thanks so much for your debate! :buddies: and :patriot:

Edit: I am picking leftover crabs from today; put it off way too late, if you still want to debate, I will be up! I have been accused by some on this forum of being weird  We need a crab smiley; after all this is southern maryland!

No, she's not assuming anything. You're a progressive/leftist/socialist

Just because all you basement dwelling friends have the same progressive/socialist political views doesn't mean you're politically mainstream any more than thinking your poor grammar skills mean you're expressing your thoughts clearly.

Just curious... what are the right reasons to hate Obama?

Rich white guy that paid as little in taxes as the law allows. :jameo:

Mitt is a fool for not releasing them all. That instantly puts all the pressure back on Obama and all his evasiveness over the years as well as putting the spotlight, for thinking people, back on the job Obama has done as potus while you kids pretend a rich white guy paying very little in taxes is why Obama has done so poorly.

I don't get it. I think it is a HUGE mistake not releasing them. Hell, think of all the fun I am missing out watching Team O come up with the NEXT excuse for why Mitt Romeny's (insert excuse here)___________________ is why their man hasn't done very well as potus.

I don't get it.

Obama and his minions are also trying to change the dialogue regarding the election. Instead of the election being a referendum on Obama and his record they want the election campaigns to discuss 'values'. I don't think values are very much different generally. How we get the economy moving upward to get to those goals is what we need to evaluate.

30 million unemployed people isn't working, Mr. President.

Want to drive a liberal crazy? Tell him Mitt's tax returns are in a corner of a round room.

Obama and his staff drove birthers crazy by withholding the long form of his birth certificate for over 3 years.

If Mitt has nothing to hide, I think he's crazy like a fox, because the smartest thing to do is let people like Harry Reid gain support and then shoot them all down with the data - say, sometime in October. Reid has gone way off the deep end, and the best Pelosi can come up with is, she believes someone told him.

Let me ask you - if he gives you the returns - is there even the slightest, tiniest chance it will improve his chances that you will vote for him? If you find out he gave all his discretionary income to charity - will that in any way improve your likelihood that you will support him?

Case closed.
